About a week ago someone contacted me through email that I hadn't talked to in almost three years. She had found me through messagemoms.org it is a site that allows you to locate other moms in your area. I was surprised to hear from her. We weren't that close. We wrote a few times back and forth and then communication quit. No real reason. I guess not much to say.
Anyway she emailed me a week ago and asked if I was interested in joining the playgroup that she was a member of. Including her there are only three moms in the group resulting in five kids. I told her I would try to find a ride and let her know. She offered to come pick us up since she doesn't live that far away. So I asked John....he can get a little wierd about me meeting people from online. And I figured he might, especially since I didn't know her all that well. But he said it was up to me. Even stating, "why not, maybe you could make some friends in the area." So all was a go.
It was strange to expect someone that I hadn't seen any pictures of or talked to over the phone. She was nice though. Her name is Kristy. She has two kids. A girl, Elizabeth, who is four. She is a couple months younger than Kailee. And a boy, Eric, who will be two next month. The other two moms in the group have two year olds. One a boy and the other has a girl. The one with the girl also has a six month old but since it was so hot she didn't bring him.
They have the playgroup at 10AM on Wednesdays. Location depending on weather. Kailee and Elizabeth hit it off pretty good. Both are talkive so you can imagine how that went. ~laughs~ Though since we were rushed in the morning, I forgot some stuff. I was going to take a small snack but didn't have time to pack one. I was also going to grab one of Kailee's water bottles while heading out the door, forgot that too. It was in the mid-80s even though it was still early. Kailee got kind of crabby and started complaining she was thristy. My fault. I felt bad for her.
We came home at 11:30. Kristy offered to take us next week if we were interested. It helps to get out of the house and gives someone for Kailee to play with. Though when Kailee starts school in the fall, we won't get to go anymore. Which makes it a little odd for me. The kind of feeling of....why try to make friends when in about a month and a half it will go back to just an online friendship....if that.
To keep my sanity and not to go stir-crazy, we will go to as many as the playgroup meetings that we can....while we can.
