It's Derby time again! And this year the Queen is attending. So Louisville is super super hectic. And that means that work is super super hectic.
And work is even more hectic because in July we'll be moving! Sweet Surrender is returning to Frankfort Avenue. Which is great (and I'm super excited about), but it means all kinds of work and things that I need to consider in order for the move to go smoothly. I get to buy new equipment, dishes, furniture and other supplies, but first I have to figure out when and how. Yikes! And then all the extra marketing... Just thinking about it gives me a headache.
On top of all this, I've been rather depressed lately. Some of it has to do with work and the complexities of working with friends. But like I mentioned in my last post, some of it is because I'm just lonely in general these days. The Virginia Tech massacre also hit me really hard. One of my sister's high school classmates was killed. And I'm still very dismayed by the lack of media coverage. I mean, two days after the shooting, there was more on the news about Larry Birkhead than about the shooting. When the Columbine shooting took place, regularly scheduled television was interrupted for days. I don't even think there was so much as a News Break on any major network. I only found out about it at first because I was channel surfing and stopped for a second on CNN. And it was my day off. It's like it's already been forgotten about, which is just so fucked up! I mean it was a huge massacre! You still here about the Kent State shootings from decades ago and this has already been waved aside with a shrug of the shoulders. It really disturbs me a lot. Is our society so desensitized that we aren't even surprised be a tragedy of this caliber anymore?
And speaking of society, I really wish that Americans hadn't gotten so sheep-like in recent decades. Where are the war protests? The marches in support of pro-choice. We just grumble about things without lifting a finger to try to change them. Of course, I'm guilty of this at times too. But I don't understand how we got like this.
Wow, I'm getting really negative so it must be time to try to sleep. I got one of those memory foam mattress toppers and it rocks! My neck, which is in a near constant state of pain, is going much better after just a few nights on it. Yay! I highly recommend getting one to anyone experiencing back pain. It's not really helping with the insomnia, but for me that would be a major miracle.
Alright. Nighty night folks!
