Weekend Update with your host, Satine

SO much happened this weekend. SO. MUCH.

Okay, let me start from the beginning. My sister and I, and my wonderful boyfriend left Friday evening after we all got off work to spend Labor Day weekend in Angel Fire, NM with my parents. It had been about 3 months since I had seen them last, so we were all looking forward to getting up there to see them. A weekend of fun, laughter, family and relaxation, as well as working was planned, so off we went.

We got there early Saturday morning, slept in a little and then got up and around. It was SO beautiful up there... I really can't get over how amazing it is up there. It's so quiet, and the rain began to fall early that morning as we slept, which made the day even more relaxing. We had planned to do a lot of wood chopping, but the rain prevented us from doing that. We stayed indoors and read books, or did crosswords... whatever we wanted to do. Cory and I took a nap, and that was awesome. :o)

The next day was the day that I will always remember. It was beautiful... not a cloud in the sky. We had a work-filled day planned to help out Mom and Dad, and so we got to it. Not long into the day, my dad came in from working outside with Cory and just planted this huge hug on me. He hugged me for serveral minutes, and I couldn't figure out if he was just happy to see me or if he was realizing that we would be leaving later that day. So, he asks my mom to come into the room and he says, "Cory has just asked us for our daughter's hand in marriage."

...

Say what? I was SO surprised... I mean... really... wow. EEK! Both of my parents were ecstatic! Not to mention me -- I think I have been walking on the same cloud for two days now, even though I did have to work today!

Now, granted, he hasn't asked me yet. *snicker* But I think it was really important to him to have my father's, and my mother's blessing before he asked me. I can't tell you how happy I am!!!

I'm sure he's just waiting until I least expect it to formally ask me... sneaky, sneaky. ;o) Anyhow... I am really thrilled at what this all means... and it means that we have finally come full circle. Things in this life are finally working out for us, and I couldn't be happier than I am at this moment in time.

So, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! In case you can't tell, I had the best weekend of my life, perhaps!

We went hiking later that day, down to the creek and the aspen grove. Cory carved our initials into one of the aspen down there, and I took a picture of it so that I will always remember. September 5, 2004 was the day he made his intentions known to spend the rest of his life with me. It was as if in carving a statement of our love into a tree, it cemented what we mean to each other, and what we will become to each other in the near future. I'm getting all vuh'clempt now... tee hee. *tear*

This weekend has been a blessing in more ways than one. I got to share a most precious moment in my life with my precious family. I can't tell you how my parents adore Cory. It's as if they just both know, as we do, that we are meant to be together and that this is the culmination of all of the things in our life up to this point. We were brought together for a great love, and that is what we have and that is what we shall always have.

Ahh... I'm on cloud nine! :oD
