Endeavor

Mom called me this afternoon to find out if Leah and I had plans this evening.
She wanted to drive up to Alligator Alley to watch the shuttle launch.
We met up at the house at about 6 ish and drove up in her car. We parked on a frontage road out in the middle of the Glades - very dark, and a little spooky. There are gators out there... and its like... feeding time - that time of the evening.
Oy
so we waited... and I called Cliff. I knew he would appreciate it, and oh, how I wish he could have been there. It was really cool.
It's a pretty clear night and though we were still pretty far away - it was cool. When it first launched - it looked like the few clouds on the horizon were on fire. then we see this bright shooting orange ball... rising ... rising ... then a couple minutes up... the booster rockets came off .. fell away and the orange went with them.. and the shuttle flame was white...
we watched as it went further down on the horizon (really fruther up - but it looked like down) and finally disappear.
Very cool.
Someone told me that I wasnt allowed to watch the launches anymore - because the last one I watched actually crashed.
so...
everyone pray that nothing bad happens to Endeavor, or I really won't ever get to watch it again.
