what happens to this stuff?

tonight while checking out yahoo news, i came across this article:

i wanna know... what happens to this stuff.  if our government could sell off this stuff, couldn't it help to pay for food for a starving country?  would it be offensive?  the whole world knows that US government employees and officials aren't supposed to accept gifts.

i'm just sayin'....
