They say we are all doomed at the outset...

Doomed to turn into our mothers, that is.

A story to set the stage. Every Saturday morning that I remember while I was still living in my mother's house, at least the ones where I was home and not off at my dad's or a friend's or up early for rehearsal or a tourament or something, I remember being woken up by my mother cleaning. She would vaccuum at the most ungodly hours, clean the bathrooms, do the laundry (and then toss my clean laundry on my bed while I was still asleep in it, at least the relatively few times she did my laundry), give the dog a bath, clean the kitchen, all usually before 10am, and always certainly before I was awake under normal circumstances.

This morning I woke up not terribly early (like 10:30 or so) but definitely before anyone else in the house was showing any signs of being coherent, and spent half an hour bustling about and reorganising the living room and putting things away in the bathroom. The disaster area that is our living and dining rooms is still driving me nuts, but there isn't anything else to really be done about it until next month when we get more shelving and our furniture. Such is life, I suppose.
