1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before? Bought a house, carried a fetus in my body, joined a CSA, worked at a farmers' market, grew my own veggies, had my license plates suspended 3 times without having done anything illegal, etc.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't think I resolved to do anything - in fact, I'm not sure I did anything special for New Year's. Maybe Bob worked?

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Not that I can think of.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Not yet this year.

5. What countries did you visit? Stuck around in the U.S. this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? I just would like to feel more settled in every way. Not likely with a baby on the way, but whatevs. I'll get there... or somewhere.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? I've got no permanent numbers in my brain, but there are some specific days in 2009 that will probably stick around with importance for quite some time.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Quitting my job to take a chance on doing something I'd love.

9. What was your biggest failure? Giving up on vegetarianism in the interest of exhaustion and laziness.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Not that I can think of.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and maybe the lemongrass and bergamot bubble bath I got from Bath and Body Works.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Bob's pretty much come through with me like a pro on more than one occasion.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Some of the OB's at my practice.

14. Where did most of your money go? House, loans (car, student, and credit card), and food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? The new job, Sadie, and Steph's visit from Portland.

16. What song will always remind you of 2009? Likely Beyonce's "Put a Ring on It."

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: happier or sadder?Happier I think - I was still adjusting a bit to Frederick last year.

richer or poorer? eh, probably in a similar boat - savings hasn't really gone anywhere, but we're more out of debt and have more in the way of investments

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Gardening, cooking, exercising in the first trimester, research surrounding birthing, not working, making time to travel when I felt up to it, etc.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Eating things that gave me heartburn.

20. How will you be spending Christmas? My family is visiting me and I'll be eating very well. YUM.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009? Real bad.

22. How many one-night stands? None.

23. What was your favorite TV program? So You Think You Can Dance or House.

24. Do you dislike anyone now that you didn’t dislike this time last year? Probably some of the people I used to work for/with - though, none of them really matter anymore.

25. What was the best book you read? The Intuitionist by Colson Whitehead.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery? Kimya Dawson

27. What did you want and get? A healthy fetus.

28. What did you want and not get? Less interaction with medical professionals.

29. What was your favorite film of this year? Zombieland.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? 24 and my family came to visit. We went for sushi and it was a lovely day.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Not having blood clotting issues.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009? It's all about the elastic bands and flats.

33. What kept you sane? Bob - he's good at that.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Judge Judy.

35. What political issue stirred you the most? The sad state of maternity/paternity leave in the U.S. - I know, it's selfish.

36. Who did you miss? Cripes - EVERYONE who doesn't live in MD, which is pretty much everyone.

37. Who was the best new person you met? The people I now work for/with.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009? I'm not sure I have any one specific lesson... I've definitely learned the importance of self-advocacy.
