Home again

We had a wonderful trip over the last five days. We drove to Pasadena to see an old friend of mine from high school. He and his wife have a son whose age is right between my boys. They also have an adorable four-year-old daughter. His wife is a quilter and we hit several of the local quilt shops where I got wonderful fabrics, patterns, and books. She and I even talked about going to a quilting weekend in October. We swam in their pool and played board games. The kids got along great and were amazingly well behaved in the car for the 500-mile-each-way journey. Of course it figures that when we finally find a couple that we get along so well with they live 500 miles away. But we hope to visit them more often and have them come see us (though they've already said they won't come to Tucson in the summer). Even though we really had a wonderful time, it's great to be home and sleeping in our own beds again. The pets seemed happy to see us. And my friend who took care of the place for me cleaned it while we were gone. I have wonderful friends.
