Genre Drabbles, Round 10
freaky_anomaly wanted some related Pine/Quinto drabbles in Romance, Adventure and Fantasy flavors. Warning: Zach has a potty mouth.
Fantasy
“So . . . this is your mind?”
“Um.” Chris rubs a hand over the back of his neck and looks around, sheepish. “Yeah. I guess so.”
“Huh.” Zach steps forward, peering at the book-lined shelves. He pulls out a particularly tattered volume, puts it back. “Not really what I expected.”
“No? What were you picturing?”
Zach shrugs. “More girls in bikinis, less . . .” He makes an expansive gesture. “Library of Alexandria.”
“Sorry,” Chris laughs. “Guess I’m not as shallow as you give me credit for.”
“So how do we get back out?”
“Don’t ask me, man; I’ve been stuck in here for years.”
Adventure
“Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck.” They’re both breathing hard, soaked in sweat. “What the fuck was that?”
“Nightmare.” Chris shoves the book back on the shelf; his hands are shaking. “For the record? Ten-year-olds should not watch Dawn of the Dead.”
“Okay.” Zach scrubs his hands over his face. “The answer’s gotta be in one of these.” His eyes fall on a well-worn spine, and he grabs it.
“No,” Chris says quickly. “Not that one.”
“Come on, what could possibly be worse than zombies?”
“I just don’t think that one is-”
“Don’t be a baby, Pine,” he sneers, and opens it.
Romance
“Zach.” He can hear his voice cracking and squeezes his eyes closed. “I don’t . . . I’m sorry, I didn’t-”
“Chris.” Zach’s voice isn’t any too steady, either. Chris doesn’t find that fact comforting. “That was . . . we were married.” Zach sounds amused now. Is that better or worse than horrified? “Don’t lie; I saw the rings.”
“Look, it’s just a stupid fantasy, and I watch way too many romantic comedies, you know that, and-” He falters when Zach’s lips press lightly against his, and his eyes flutter open. “Um.”
“Hey Chris?” Zach whispers against his lips. “Would you wanna go out sometime?”
All right, bbs, the genre drabbles are going on a temporary hiatus while I work on the trek_hc table. However, if the first commenter wants to make a request, I will get to it as soon as I have finished with that. USUAL RULES APPLY!
