I think my two last remaining braincells finally died.

Today I baked my world-famous *coughs* oregano crackers (minus the oregano, because I'm out of oregano and F forgot to water my plants last time I was away) and as I was turning them on the oven tray, I was assaulted by the most plotty plot ever ( Read more... )

I'm pretty sure neither of them were part of my open-oven epiphany, but they were great, nevertheless. Thank you so much!

If there is Remus/Sirius in your plot:

We know that at that moment Lily and James are already in hiding, therefore Sirius is already suspecting Remus of treachery. This is all very disturbing since he really loves him. Then he hears from Lily this 'ridiculous' story that Mrs. Bagshot told her, about Albus and Gellert being close friends and everything. Because he is gay he knows that there can be more than friendship between two men (unlike most straight people who assume that all men are straight by default). He can draw some parallels (especially because he likes to imagine that he's the good guy and Remus's the bad guy) and becomes very interested in their story, maybe even starts a kind of research...
Do I make any sense? xD

I think it would totally be a Marauders thing to speculate about the sex lives of their teachers. And if Sirius was gay, he might be more likely to wonder if any of his teachers was. He's a smart guy and a keen observer. Dumbledore's wardrobe is enough to make one wonder, and I bet he could have tracked down some rumours as well. Just because there was no Rita Skeeter book back then doesn't mean no one knew about his past.

In one of my fics I have Dumbledore coming out to Remus and telling him about Gellert in an attempt to help Remus feel better about his problems with Sirius. Basically R/S have been flirting and having major UST but it freaked Sirius out and he went and slept with his ex-girlfriend, and Remus could obviously tell something had happened. It sounds a lot better IN the story than that little summary did, but you get my point. =) Using that scenario, Remus would have known from 7th year on that Dumbledore was gay and had once been involved with Gellert. At some point, he would likely have told Sirius (maybe not, but I think that's the kind of thing you'd probably tell your life partner).

Good luck with your story, whatever scenario you choose! =)

Yes, it's here at my journal. Part of a series I did recently.
