Day off. (also day 26 - a song that you can play on an instrument)

Aug 15, 2011 11:30

I have booked myself today and tomorrow off work. I needed to paint the front door and while that job doesn't take all day, I do need to a) be able to do it without help from a small person and b) be able to leave the door open all day.

I am now feeling stranegly productive - front door painted, 1 coat of an inside door painted (it is going to need at least 1 more, but probably 2 or 3, but at least I can do that one in the evenings). I have the second lot of washing on, cleaned the bathroom sink, and have the kitchen bin soaking in the bath (need to clean the bath too, but will use it for the yucky jobs first!). Am now sitting down for a well deserved coffee-and-internet break before tackling the kitchen.

Don't fret though, I'm not spending the entire of my day off doing housework. I am tackling the kitchen so it is clear enough to make lunch and I need to tidy the living room enough so I can play some zumba. Then I fully intend to spend some quality me-time playing either tropico or tropico 2 (I haven't decided which) this afternoon. Although having said that, but of them are games where you spend a lot of time waiting for your little people to do things, so I may be unable to resist the urge for some further living room tidying while I am waiting for them!

Tomorrow will be a spending-quality-Izzy time day mostly, although I suspect some further tidying will occur. We are going to my Mum for lunch with another mum and little one, so that will be good :)

What else of note? We have started Geocaching (Richard used my mention that it would be a fun thing to do once I get around to buying a new phone as an excuse to replace his, which I don't mind, as his old one was on it's last legs, but it wasn't quite what I had in mind) and found our first cache at the weekend. Well, I say we. We had to walk past the park on the way to find it, so Richard went geocaching while we climed and played. It was one near portchester castle, so we combined the geocaching with a picnic at the castle and an ice-cream, which is kind of the point of the exercise really :) There are quite a few around town, so we may go find a few of them on Saturday I think. And at some point we need to do a trip to Farley Mount as there are a few up there :)

Weight watchers is going well so far. I am finding it much easier than I thought to stick to my daily points - some days I'm not quite spending them all. I think it would be harder if I had started in the winter, but this time of year with all the yummy stuff on the allotment I'm living of salad and things anyway. I've just had to scale down the amount of pasta/whatever that I'm having WITH the salad. And I'm liking the way that I also get weekly points, so I can have some pudding when we are at sunday lunch at the in-laws, or a glass of wine on a Friday night or whatever. I just have to choose WHICH treats I get to have, because I can't have cake AND wine and crisps and whatever every day. Which is kind of the point really. I'm not using all my weekly points up either, although I suspect I may do next week seeing as there will be wine involved. Then a bit more wine for good measure. And almost certainly chips. I will have to be very good for the rest of the week incase I end up using all my points in one afternoon/evening.

So, what are you doing next weekend you ask? Well on Saturday afternoon my good friend Jaine (hi Jane!!!) is having a book signing at the library, which we are going along to. I am very excited about this because it means I get to buy the new book and find out WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!! (well, actually I suspect I'm going to be thrown off on another tangent which generates more questions than it answers, but I will enjoy it none the less.

After the book signing is over it will be time for the wine and the chips then in the evening we are off to the Railway for Lucy's 30th, so my parents are going to come fetch Izzy from us at some point in the afternoon and we are going to just stumblemove from one drinking establishment to the other when the time seems right.

Anyway, must crack on... but before I go here is a song that I can play on an instrument. These days what I actually play on an instrument is limited to twinkle twinkle etc on Izzy's teeny (very nearly 2 octaves, but not quite) toy keyboard. I really need to drag my keyboard out more often and practise. I know I have the sheet music to imagine (no embedding link, but I'm sure you have heard it before!) somewhere, although if I dug it out now I would definitely be struggling to site-read it quick enough!
