What is the UK version of etsy called?

We've had an eventful few days here. Went up to see my Granny on Friday. Izzy was very grisly on the way up, and we realised she had a temperature, so dosed her up on calpol. We put it down to teething as there was a lot of dribbling going on. She was much the same on Saturday - hardly any sleep Friday or Saturday night, and she refused any milk all day saturday (had a feed at bedtime though). Sunday she was feeling better, but still wouldn't feed. I was ready to pop by half way home, so had to express by hand in a motorway services toilet cubice. (moooo!!!!) Izzy woolfed it down from a cup.

And on Saturday she came over with spots too, so we took her off to the doctor on Monday. He confirmed it wasn't chicken pox (hoorah), and wasn't at all concerned about the not drinking milk thing. I've since read up on it, and it seems we have a nursing strike on our hands. The thing to do seems to be lots of skin to skin contact, keep on expressing and giving her that, and wait it out. I've got quite upset about it this week, partly due to being quite so tired, as it is such a hormonal thing with lots of bonding and emotions tied up with it - I know in my logical brain it isn't the end of the world, and she's had a good start even if we don't get back on track, but the bit of me that controlls my emotions is still shouting "my baby doesn't love me any more" in the back of my head. (I'm putting my hands over my ears and saying "lalalalala, I can't hear you" as much as I can!)

It has been a bit of a problem, as I had been feeding Izzy to sleep, but we have both got used to the idea of that not being the only way to go about things. Which is no bad thing really. Maybe Richard can get her to sleep soon, and I can go out. Luxury ;)

I start back at work on Monday, so I'm kind of worried that with the timing, the upheval might mean we don't ever get back on track with the feeding - all the research I've done suggests it can take up to a few weeks to get back to normal. I didn't want to be expressing at work, but I might have to grin and bear it. I've decided I will express for 2 weeks at work, but after that I will admit defeat. Technically she is so young it is unlikely to be self-weaning (that doesn't normally happen till at least 18 months), but realistically I can't keep expressing indefinitely (I've spent 2 hours on it today, and I need to have another go in a mo! And she has had 8 months, which is more than a lot of babies get, so I've done a great job if I do so myself ;)

It's not as if you can line up everyone at Whitby and work out who was breastfed and for how long. (well... maybe in one or two cases ;) )

Izzy got to have her first day at nursery today (didn't take her in on Monday, as we weren't sure if it was chicken pox at that point). She had a fab time - lots of playing, she ate ALL her food (I sent her in with loads!), but didn't drink very much. And she slept for 45 mins, which isn't amazing, but more than I was expecting on her first day. I think we picked the right nursery :) (and the right baby too ;) )

breastfeeding, izzy
