It could have been worse...in theory

I started the day by being yelled at for being late to an appointment...when I was 10 minutes early. I middled it by having an emergency vet visit, because when I called to schedule an appointment for Johnny and described his symptoms, they said "Uh, you need to get him in here now." Initiate Mommy Panic! More on that later, but I ended the day with a bunch of hoops to jump through in one of my cities, and then spending almost $100 on the vet bill and medications for a yeast infection, irritated stomach lining, and a lesion from the last time he was groomed that had to be removed. So I have an ear flush and antibiotics and ointment and a 3 cans of special dog food for the stomach problem, since they're not sure what's causing the vomiting, if it's the infection or what. Apparently, and I didn't know this, but poodles and their mixes are highly prone to ear infections, because apparently they have a lot of hair that grows in and around their ears that collects gunk that gets infected, unless the hair is thinned and plucked regularly. So apparently, to avoid this in the future, I will have to try to take him in for at least a trim every two months. Oh my God, $$$$.

However, possibly frequent trims will be cheaper and less hassle, in the long run, than washes, ointments, pills, special food and trips to the vet. And if nothing else, it will hurt both of us less.

It's a good thing that tomorrow's Friday, not only because I am thoroughly sick of this week, but because Johnny generally requires quite a bit of hands on attention right after a vet visit, and it will be good to be home as much as possible. Although I have what feels like 8,000 errands to run Saturday, and the Titus II groups start then too, so how much I'll actually be home is still open to debate.

Also, I called my apartment company today to complain about a maintenance issue I've been having, and they told me to fix it myself. No, really, they did--told me to look for a problem and check it and see if I can fix it myself, and only call them tomorrow if I can't do it myself. Then I tried to talk to the person who is in charge of my lease to talk about my needing to come in and talk about switching to another property, and at 4:30, she'd already left for the day. Thinking about not wanting to stay with these people after all, maybe.
