I really want to know.
I was reading a good plotty fic on FFN and I'm seriously disappointed with the latest chapter because it seemed rushed.
So how can you tell an author is getting bored?
- Short chapters that make no sense to the overall story.
- The writing is stilted and unemotional.
- It looks like a 'filler' chapter.
- More than average spelling and punctuation mistakes.
- Longish chapters seem 'scatterbrained' and confusing.
I know I'm guilty of these a time or two, but I think I've gotten better. To me, I'd rather flesh out the chapter a little more so that it makes sense and is much more believable. Sure it may take longer to get it out to the public but I wouldn't want to disappoint people by writing shoddy stuff.
