Author's Notes: Table here. Yes, I know it's only Four Horsemen, but I wanted to keep the balance between the two groups. The smart people will get how it all works.

“That fellow is looking at you,” said Arthur, indicating with a slight movement of his finger the table across from them. Seward and Professor Van Helsing, whose backs were to the other table, both turned to look. Quincey smacked his hand against his forehead. “Could you two be any more obvious?” he muttered.

“Probably, want to see?” said Seward. He stood and walked over the other table. Once there, he offered his hand to the man in question. “Hullo, I’m Doctor John Seward.”

The pale man in the white shirt who had been staring at him with a curious look suddenly smiled. “That’s it, you’re a doctor.” Seward furrowed his brow. The pale man brushed a lock of long white hair out of his face. Seward wondered if the fellow was an albino.

“A doctor. No wonder you’re feeling so well,” purred the redheaded woman on the other side of the table. A slightly older fellow who looked as though he was dying of…everything, coughed into his sleeve and glared at her. “I don’t need you to rub it in. You know I hate doctors.”

The gentleman in the black suit turned to Seward. “Do forgive him. It’s not you personally; he just doesn’t like anyone of the medical or science professions. Allow me to introduce us all properly. I am Mr. Blacking, and these are my associates Mr. Whyton, his mentor Count Agion, Miss Redding and Thanatopsis.” Seward blinked at the last one, a tall man completely covered in black robes.* Mr. Blacking smiled. “Bryant,” he said.

“Ah, well,” said Seward, “It’s a pleasure to meet you all. As I said, I am Doctor John Seward, and these are my companions: Professor Van Helsing, my own mentor, Jonathan Harker, Arthur Holmwood, and Quincey Morris.” The men got up from their table to join Seward.

“More doctors, I imagine? This is absolutely dreadful; I feel as though I’m going to recover from consumption any moment,” said Count Agion.

“I think Professor Van Helsing is the only other doctor,” said Miss Redding with a vaguely malicious looking smile. “I’m quite sure the Texan isn’t. I’ve never seen any doctor who carried a knife like that.”

Jonathan was looking terribly queasy. “I’m beginning to feel quite dizzy, rather like I haven’t eaten in days.” Mr. Blacking gave a sort of half-smile. “Don’t worry, I’m sure it will pass soon enough. It generally does in some way or another, given enough time.”

Arthur was eyeing the blacked robed man cautiously. “Why was it you were looking over at our table again?” he asked, tugging uncomfortably at his collar.

YOU MIGHT SAY WATCHING PEOPLE IS A PASTIME OF OURS, said a voice from inside the black hood.

“We’ve only got another two hours before some of us are on call again, and we wanted to get together and do something,” added Mr. Whyton quietly.

“On call?” asked Professor Van Helsing. “Of what professions are you members?”

“Classified work for a top secret Agency,” said Mr. Blacking. “I’m afraid we can’t really talk about it though. The results might be earth-shattering.”

*At least, Seward presumed it was a man. He really couldn’t be sure, but he did remember from Latin that “-is” was a masculine ending. Never mind that thanatos is Greek.
