day 1

Dec 17, 2009 18:02

i know i might slip up during christmas in miami (GOD, i want a pastelito de guayaba and a batido de trigo!), but i'm going to try my hardest not to...........

since i started my new year's resolution early, i'm going to use this to log my daily food intake.

the big idea here is to completely (or as completely as is possible in modern day USA) cut out refined/processed sugars, and to limit my white flour intake (baked goods, bread, pasta, crackers, etc.).

so day one went like this:

got up, walked to work (30 minute walk). throughout my shift:

-hot water with lemon
-banana
-apple
-handful of walnuts
-small soy latte sweetened with stevia
-salad (i made it: organic lettuce, toy box tomatoes, organic broccoli, cucumber -- a dash of crystal hot sauce for wetting purposes, which probably has sugar in it, so i slipped up there without realizing)
-two saltines (i know, i messed up there big time but it was just lying there and the salad left a little to be desired -- step by step!)
-fruit cup from work: mango, grapefruit, pineapple, grapes, apple, strawberries, blueberries.
-Numi organic fruitea black tea.
-handful of pecans

it was an 8:30-4pm shift and granted, i snacked a little bit more than i should have but it was SO SLOW and i was SO BORED. boredom eating is another problem entirely.

walked home (but stopped to browse at a few shops). got in and made dinner:

Quorn 'chicken' breast cooked in a skillet with Pam (probably not good -- i gotta look into alternatives), and including:
-corn (frozen - eh - it was all i had)
-onion (fresh)
-spices: rosemary, thyme, sea salt, black pepper, organic garlic powder, dash of coriander, and a small dash of srirracha (which also probably has trace amounts of refined sugar -- i need an organic sugar-free hot sauce fix!)

...so day one, not too bad.

unfortunately i'm going out for a few drinks with some friends tonight (not that THAT is unfortunate, but i gotta figure out what to do) -- i have no idea what i can imbibe that DOESN'T have sugar (and that ISN'T vodka). gin..?

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Which_has_more_scotch_or_gin_in_sugar_content

carbs aren't bad although i have no idea what the fermentation process does to the molecular structure, but oh well. i guess i have to ditch my whiskey for gin! ouch!

i never thought my new signature drink would be "gin and soda". yikes. i better ask for 3 lime wedges instead of one.

i just realized how much crap i still have to do before i leave to miami! UGH. time is closing in on me and i work like crazy until wednesday!
