Dear Ryan Murphy

I have been watching Glee since the asshole who stole 57K from my work lent me the DVDs. I enjoyed the first season, watching these kids grow from whimpering little nothings into developed characters.

Then you screwed them over and threw them back where they'd been before.

Unfortunately, I've seen this before. It was called Heroes. And it was amazing. Sure there were lots of plot holes in the first series and there was something going on we never did understand, but that was the important part of Heroes. It was fun, amazing, interesting. You enjoyed the characters and the guest cameos didn't overwhelm us.

And then came the second season. Oh in the beginning we had little idea where it was going, but we could figure it out. There were some bad parts, but over all people just complained that it was boring. Then the writer's strike hit and the season was forced short, ruining the story. And from there, it went down hill. The characters flopped around from episode to episode in season three with little continuity, as if the writers were pulling things out of their asses week to week forgetting what was happening the previous week. There were too many plots we didn't care about, and starting to have too many characters with powers we also didn't care about. They tried to restart it in the fourth season, but by then we were too far gone.

You won't have that problem Mr. Murphy, at least with the powers of characters we don't care about and adding characters we don't care about. The problems you have are still similar to the ones Heroes had. The second season is boring. It's rehashing things we've already seen. The whole sectionals performance was a rewrite of the regionals episode with different characters. Then the ending song, rather than

Oh and Rachel? Constantly chained to the idiot ball? Been there done that with Peter Petrelli. First she sings a song about her headband, then after the "sexy" and "alcohol" eps in which she declares that now she has a heartbreak she can write about, only to write another song about being an only child. Oh and that "omg now I've had a relationship with a gay guy now I can write!" What about the failed relationship with Jesse where he tried to sleep with her and then used what he knew about her to screw with her?

Quinn going back to her Cheerios life was understandable, but after all she went through before, especially realizing how horrible she was treated with the not eating and shit? No. Just no. Sure making her want to be prom Queen shows that she's

The other thing is dropping story lines at one point to pick them up at another further away point if they get picked up. Dear me, if I didn't think the confused kiss of Karofsky and Kurt was so intense and meaningful (read: kinda hot) I would have ignored that storyline.

Also, dropping good characters! Mercedes is getting less and less screen time in favor of the Kurt/Blaine relationship (which is really boring - they're just too happy) and the Rachel/Finn/Quinn drama (which really should get pushed to the back). The Puck and Lauren drama is fun, but I want to see some more of Tina and Mike! Oh and pandering to the fans. Dear me.

Then there's Sam. His personality has changed more than Sylar's identity. You cannot make a character whose personality changes on a week to week basis. You have 22-24 episodes of the series, have his personality progress fluidly not choppily. It was like Nathan Petrelli in season 3. One day he's an evangelical, the next he's seeing things who aren't there, the next he's following daddy, then mommy, then... I couldn't keep it straight, and I ceased caring after a while.

And with the newest episode, Sue should be in jail for something like that. Assault is NOT funny especially when the woman has already said her husband abuses her.

In answers: Glee really was good for a single season. It told the story of a ragtag bunch of kids who grew together to make something wonderful. Heroes was also a great first season. It told the story of a bunch of people from different walks of life overcoming their problems to stop an evil villain from destroying the world. But after that, things become stagnant. It becomes things we've seen before just the way that one Family guy Ep about Lois taking up boxing was nearly identical to the one where she took up Karate. You're adding new elements that's good, but sometimes we get bored. If you just wanted a show with singing make a show about singing.
