I Scare People
No, really.
I think the maintenance guy at the barn is scared of me. He sees my shiny new nose piercing, which leads to questions like, "do you have any tattoos?" The answer -- for those of you dear readers who don't know -- is "yes, I have two." During this conversation, he sees me pull a knife out of my pocket and dexteriously open it -- by dexterious, I mean I flipped my wrist and the knife flew open ... cool looking trick, not really threatening -- to cut open the bags of bedding. Shortly thereafter, he carefully asks me if enjoy fighting.
... ummm ... no.
But it got me thinking. I must look like a badass. But just because I look like I could kick someone's ass doesn't mean that I will ... except for you Tom, I own you ... but he seemed, if not intimidated, very respectful. And decidedly less chatty than the last time we worked together.
Wow. When I was driving to the barn in the pre-dawn of Saturday morning, I had convinced myself that I couldn't take working 7 days a week anymore and I would just have to quit the barn. Yeah, right. By the time I was working on the third stall, I was happy with the barn job again, like I am every weekend. Then my boss tells me that her weekday person has to quit and by Sunday I've volunteered to come out evenings during the week to help out until she gets another full-time person.
I've also made up my mind to do the HJ Fox show at the beginning of March. The girls at the barn talked me into it, and they're helping me get the blouse and blazer that I'll need. I can buy cheap shavings off my boss so I won't have to pay for the overpriced bags at the show. Amanda says I can crash at her place that weekend to save long drives from Marietta to the Intl. Horse Park in Conyers. I love my friends. This is it: my one and only serious non-schooling horse show for the next ___ years. Scott is sure I'm not going to embarass anyone (including him) which makes me feel better. And Topper's recent flying lead changes give me hope. I'm sure you'll be getting more updates on this show in the coming month than you will really care about.

I now need to stretch, do laundry, file taxes, and be otherwise domestic. Because I have to get up at 0530 and go to work in the COLD. So, goodnight!
