And now for a real post ...

Okay, last night I was a bit scattered (but not smothered or covered) and I didn't have a chair, which is what I'm blaming that post on. So, for those of you who care, here's what's really really going on:

Jezebel is a fluffy cat. Which means since the vet shaved off all of her tummy-fur for The Operation, she is now a half-bald fluffy cat. Oh, and don't forget the big patch on her neck, too. I think she's glad that she's an indoor cat at the moment, because how could she show herself in public looking like that?!?! She's been uber-cuddly since Jenn and Matt have moved all of their stuff out. She knows something is up, just not what, and I think it's kind of freaking her out.

Speaking of moving. There is no living room. There is no Jenn's room. There is no dining room. There are no chairs. There is a pile of boxes and games in the corner of the living room, along with my floor lamp. I've taken the legless chair (the chairless chair ... you know ... the chairless chair!) and moved it in front of the computer, from which I can watch DVDs at an unusual angle. Typing, however, is not an option. The coathanger is still in the front rooms too. Nothing on the walls. Nothing on the floor (except a couple of paperballs, of course). It's really very depressing. My room is my bed, nightstand, bureau, and BOXES. 20 something boxes of books and stuff, just waiting to go up to the closet in the upstairs hall at my folks' place. Yippee. I think I tossed/donated over 20 bags of stuff this past weekend. I'm so proud of me for that.

I'm going to my doctor's office this Friday to pick up my completed medical paperwork for Peace Corps, which means I can photocopy everything Monday morning and ship it (certified mail, of course) off to DC. FINALLY get this process rolling again. Of course, I still need to call in my immunization dates so the doctor can sign off on them.

And then the mundane little details of living seem to get in the way of life. Going to the bank, going to the post office (still need to submit change of address form), paying bills, grocery shopping ... everything adds up so fast that you wonder where your time has gone. This past weekend (although productive) was one big blur. This upcoming weekend (longer, because I have Friday off) looks like it's going to be as bad. I need to borrow a truck to move furniture. I need to borrow some burly men to help move furniture. (Thomas is helping with the boxes, but he's not what anyone would call burly).

Okay, the peace and quiet of morning won't last for long. Hopefully today won't be as bad as yesterday (I didn't STOP moving yesterday; I didn't LEAVE work until 1830). But that's me (and my cat) in -- if not a nutshell -- a mostly unfurnished apartment. At least for the rest of the week.
