General Elections 2009

Apr 30, 2009 14:35

It's the 30th of April, phase three of the general elections has been on the way since 07:00 hrs, this morning, and it looks like its going to be a long day.

Upside: Votes have come out in full force. It looks like every registered voter had decided to go to the polling booths today. Lines are snaking down the corridors of the voting centers, and there isn't a single dull moment at the infomation booths.

Autorickshaw drivers too have joined the movement and are ferrying people who can't normally leave their houses to the voting stations.

And I'm not on election duty XD

Downside: Despite al the campainging, and voter regristration rallys, etc., etc., etc., we apparently didn't think anyone would listen to us, and hence the polling booths are packed beyond maximum capacity, and lines are ridiculously long, and never seem to move. I went to vote at 09:30hrs, and only got done by 11:00hrs. And because 'we are like that only' people have to pick fights with each other, and all the usual nonsense.

Second its just bloody hot! So it is no small feat to stand in a line in a crowded corridor for two hours, and they heat makes people more cranky.

Myself included XP [with the new place for marking I just couldn't resist.

And as usual the EC is never going to stop being the failtastic people that they are. I don't know how many people I've had to sought out today, who had not recieved a card, been moved, re-named ...
Actually I met one lady in a fifites or sixites, who they had turned into a twenty-six year old man?
Oh, dearest EC, the madness will never end will it?

But I had to sit at the infomation desk on the road and find people in terriably unorganized registras and then point them in the right direction. And I DID IT ALL FOR FREE! wtf self?

I guess now that my civic duty is done, I can get back to the important things in life, like fandom and exams eep! :P

life, politics
