I'm nearly at the midpoint of season 4, and as far as I can tell, Battlestar Galactica is the story of two old people whose love is constantly thwarted by computers.

All those years of sharing fandom with BSG fans and all I ever learned was Six is Sexy and Roslin is Badass. Nobody ever told me there was a touching old-people OTP. What's up with

liveblogging, fandom

How omg. Back in 2007-2008 I remember eeeeeeeeverything being all "OMG ROSLIN AND ADAMA!!" to the point where if LJ would've had Tumblr Savior, BSG would've been the first thing on it.

Maybe it was just the circles I ran in at the time.

I guess we were in different fandom circles. I've never really been involved in popular fandoms, or friends with people who were... or friends with many people on LJ to begin with... so. I'm trying to remember which fandoms I was even in back in 2007-2008, but I can't. Fandoms are so fleeting. All I remember caring about back then is Strikethrough and Raising Sand. Ah well. Soon after that I abandoned conventional fandom and became all about the political fandom for a while, anyway ( ... )

I think it was mostly House/X-Files that I was into at that time. And nearly everyone who watched those flailed about BSG to the point where I got so annoyed with it that I swore I'd never watch lol.

I get it. It sucks coming into a fandom late. I came into X-Files four years after it finished airing. Not crying with everyone during the series finale, not having a weekly flail session with everyone else... those things. Hardly anyone is truly excited over it anymore. And then you look back on all the fandom's major events/things/whatever and you're not a part of it. There was such an XF fandom back in the day with awesome fic and awesome videos and hardly any of it exists anymore. Even just with things like Castle now, which is even still airing and still an active fandom. I kind of would've loved to be there for all of it. Just to be able to experience it with everyone else.

I think I mostly just didn't read individual peoples' blogs, only comms, so I only heard about stuff I wanted to hear about, except when, ever and anon, a comment thread would begin with OMG YOUR BSG ICON! and continue from there ( ... )
