terminex was here today and left a mess of cement dust all over the place.  i think i will wait till tomorrow to sweep it up.  they assured me it is non-toxic, but wtf do i know.  so i will wait a day and hope most of it blows away in the meantime.  and for now the cats will stay inside and the dogs will have to be on the grass or inside--no patio time tonight.

went to the outlaws yesterday for mothers day.  my mil made me a huge plate of chocolate covered strawberries as my mother's day gift.  i really cant expect much more as i have not birthed any of my 8 kids.   :o/  they were delish!  we ate pizza out on the patio and then i spent most of the afternoon out by their pool getting some sun, chatting, and flipping thru gardening magazines.  the outdoors does wonders for my mood.  then they were kind enough to share some shade loving ground cover with me!  yippeeeee-so now i have much less to buy for my mud erradication project.  that rocks.!  i also got a few other plants when we did our grocery shopping on saturday night--my mothers day gift to myself!

another upcoming chore is to put down paving stones on the garage side of our house.  i mean, like, at least 20 of them.  the most we've ever done is 4 and that was kinda hard to make sure the ground was level, etc.  so it might be hard, but once its done it will be nice looking, and very helpful in terms of keeping the paws clean.  its going to cost an ass load to buy all of those at about $4 a pop, plus bags of gravel and bags of sand.  whatever.

im getting excited about  my parents coming  at the end of the month.  i decided to save my garden planting for when my dad is here.  it will make for a little bit of a late start, but he will have so much fun helping me.  since i was a kid, my dad and i have loved to dig in the dirt together.  i also have plans for a shade loving flower bed, which will go next to our paving stone walk way on the side of the garage.  i should try to  have it all ready to go before he gets here.  i dont want him to get any ideas of digging/shovelling dirt--the man is 75 and on oxygen, that sounds much too strenuous.  however my mom reported that she caught him outside chopping wood one day recently.  wtf!

we decided to go with the standard, lower priced weekend trip for my  parents instead of the upgraded version.  they'll still get the float trip and basically everything else, except no fire place in their hotel room.  oh well, i hardly think that will make much difference to them at all.  my brother declined to pitch in towards the gift because apparently business is very slow and he just cant afford to.  i feel bad for him.  and the jury's still out on my nephews dropping us cash.  so its probably a good thing we downsized it a little since it looks like we will be paying for it ourselves.

i have another insurance test for work coming up the first part of june.  i havent even started studying.  i just dont feel like it this time.  we're having company in a couple of weeks and i feel like i need to work on preparing for that right now.  we have a lot to do.  plus even tho i work all summer long, the fabulous weather makes me feel like a kid who is out on summer vacation!  so im considering passing on this test date and waiting around for the next--i wonder if that will make me look and feel like a slacking asshole?

on tonight's menu....tofu lo mein with baked veg egg rolls.  mmmmmm

whats in my head, home improvements, the fam, gardening
