Trick or Treat Letter 2016

Sep 14, 2016 02:20

Hi there, writer and/or potential writer, and thank you so much for considering writing a trick or treat for me! I love these fandoms and these characters and if we matched on them I assume you do too, so that's great! I don't have a ton to say, because I don't want to overwhelm you or anything, and it's totally okay if none of my suggestions work for you and you want to write something else for the character(s). Also I apologize for not making all the prompts equal size/having a consistent structure because I sort of wrote this over a period of several days and I felt more rambly on some of them than others. I am genuinely excited by the prospect of getting fic for any of these!

I don't think I have many particular squicks that are likely to come up in the context of these fandoms-- no body horror, please, no non-canonical major character death (if we matched on Fire Emblem, I'm fine with acknowledging unavoidable character deaths that happened on whichever path the fic is set in, just not adding to it, i.e. fic set in the Conquest universe with Ryoma's death, fine! Fic set in the Conquest universe with Elise having died, not so much), no zombies (vampires, werewolves, demons or ghosts are fine, and mummies are extra fine!)

Special note- I am terrible at writing prompts for art but I really do love it, so on the off chance that any artists are feeling particularly generous and interested in drawing any of these characters, I would LOVE to receive it. I checked fanfiction only on my requests mostly because I would feel bad if an artist was assigned me and looked at my prompts and thought 'ugh these are all slanted towards fic'.

Chronicles of Chrestomanci- Diana Wynne Jones- Tonino Montana, Marianne Pinhoe, Janet Chant (Trick or Treat)

Tonino MontanaDoes Tonino ever mind that he can only help others with his power, or does he enjoy not having to do magic alone? After Magicians of Caprona, do he and the other Montana children start playing with the Petrocchis? Does Tonino end up moving to Chrestomanci Castle to help Cat when they're older, or does he prefer to stay with his family and perhaps be brought in on special occasions?

One detail I'm fond of in Magicians of Caprona is that Tonino likes to read fantasy books about worlds without magic. Does he ever get to go with Chrestomanci (Christopher or Cat) to one of those worlds? Is he terribly impressed by Janet, who grew up that way? I think if Janet ever visited Caprona, she'd certainly be impressed! I also wonder what Tonino would make of Joe Pinhoe, who's not quite as outlandish as Angelica but still has an approach to magic that Tonino would be totally unfamiliar with.

Marianne PinhoeDoes Marianne have much trouble adjusting to doing enchanter's magic after years of dwimmer only? Does her love of/understanding of magical theory ever come in handy on an adventure? How does she get on with the Pinhoes as she gets older and becomes one of the folks at the Castle? Does she continue to try and write stories or does that fall by the wayside as she gets involved in stories of her own? Does Marianne visit other worlds? If so, does she ever encounter a Marianne double a la Janet and Gwendolen? How does she get along with Chrestomanci? I do ship Marianne with Cat, if that is of interest, but don't feel under any obligation to include the pairing if you don't!

Janet ChantThe continuing growing pains of coming of age in a world you weren't born in? Does Janet ever see her parents again? Does she ever meet one of her doubles besides Gwendolen, and if so do they get along, or is it too much? Will Janet help Cat when he's Chrestomanci or does she prefer to go off into the world and explore her options (or is she ever helpful by being out in the world?) What might Janet make of Tonino, who reads fantasy novels about worlds like the one she grew up in, with no magic? Or of Conrad, who also came to Chrestomanci Castle from another world but eventually had to go back? Do she and Julia continue to be thick as thieves or do they grow apart as they get older (or have a dramatic falling out that later turns into a dramatic heartfelt reconcilliation, Janet/Julia optional?)

Chronicles of Narnia- C.S. Lewis- Rilian, Lady of the Green Kirtle (Trick)

God, The Silver Chair left a hell of an impression on me as a kid. Re-reading it now, I'm really amused to see that Lewis out and out compares Rilian to Hamlet (one of my favorite horrible protagonists) when he's first introduced in person, and then has him talking like a Shakespearean character to boot. 'I cry you mercy' indeed. And he's out to avenge a dead parent! Not that you have to run with the comparison, but I wouldn't say no to more along those lines.

If you've offered both these characters, I am really fascinated by the twisted relationship between the Lady and Rilian. Why is it that she can't keep him enchanted for that additional hour each night? Or is she completely capable of that and actually chose to make him fully aware of being held prisoner for that hour just to enjoy his rage and misery? Does she usually not engage with him for that hour in case he gets free (as indeed he apparently did once?) or is she confident enough to stay and watch him suffer? We know she's promised to give him a kingdom and be his queen... what does that mean their relationship is now? Does brainwashed Rilian think they're in love? He also compares her to a mother at one point, which is extra creepy considering she killed his real mother-- does she encourage that comparison or deliberately imitate aspects of his mother, or is it just an unfortunate turn of phrase?

If you've only offered the Lady of the Green Kirtle, I'm curious as to if she really has a relation to Jadis as is suggested-- they do both set out to rule Narnia (with different tactics) but Jadis' interactions with Edmund read very differently to me than what the Lady does to Rilian. Did she even really want Narnia or did she just dislike Aslan or have some particular grievance against Caspian? And why is it that the Lady has significantly more power to influence than Jadis and why does she pay such consistent attention to the captive Rilian while Jadis more or less ignores Edmund the moment she's gotten information out of him?

(Also I haven't read the other Narnia books so recently that I'm positive I haven't said something stupid or asked a question answered by the text, so if I did either of those things I apologize)

Fire Emblem: If | Fire Emblem: Fates- Camilla, Female Avatar, Forrest, Leo, Soleil, Takumi (Trick or Treat)

My inelegant solution to nominating this many characters for OR matching is to divide prompts by individual character with a short list both of ships I'd be happy to see them in and characters I'd be happy to see them having gen interactions with. But there's also solo-ish prompts so you don't have to write any characters you don't want to. Hopefully this is not that confusing and actually helpful.

CamillaWhat made Camilla decide to be a wyvern rider, or when did she meet her first wyvern? In the Boo Camp DLC Camilla mentions playing games as a child in "the mansion of the dead" and "the Carnivale, a glade of trees that eat people whole" and I'd love to know more about that!

If we matched on Camilla and Soleil, I do like Camilla as Soleil's mother, and would be happy to see it, but I'd also be happy to see Camilla and Soleil relating to each other without familial attachment. Or early sibling bonding times with Corrin and/or Leo, or Camilla getting to know her nephew, Forrest.
for gen: Camila & Female Avatar (Corrin), Camilla & Forrest, Camilla & Leo, Camilla & Soleil
for shipping: Camilla/Takumi, Camilla/Laslow, Camilla/Selena, Camilla/Beruka

Female Avatar (Corrin or Kamui)I'm fine with Corrin or Kamui as default names for the Avatar, but I'll use Corrin here as I played the English localization. What were Corrin's early days in Nohr like? How does she feel about her dragon transformation?

If we matched on Corrin and Camilla, does Camilla treat Corrin any differently once she has her own child to spoil? Or once Corrin has Kana? (I can't help suspecting Camilla would get into a oneupsmanship competiton with her siblings over who has the cutest daughter or son) We know a bit about Corrin and Camilla's early sibling relationship from Camilla's fond reminiscing, but what about Corrin and Leo's? Or when is it that Corrin precisely manages to win Takumi's respect?
for gen: Corrin & any of my requested characters
for shipping: Corrin/Forrest, Corrin/Soleil, Corrin/Takumi

ForrestDoes Forrest know his hat is in the accessory shop for everyone in the army to buy? (Or anything to do with Forrest and the accessory shop, because it's kind of a strange mechanic that I spent too much time on) Has he ever done commissions within the army or does he prefer to design for particular people?

Anything more with Leo and Forrest coming to a better understanding of each other would be lovely, as would anything with Forrest talking to one of the other next generation kids about their Deeprealms and trouble relating to their parents. We know how Forrest and Elise get along (although I'm still disappointed in their lack of aunt/nephew supports, boo!) so how do Forrest and Camilla get along?
for gen: Forrest & Camilla, Forrest & Female Avatar, Forrest & Leo, Forrest & Soleil
for shipping: Forrest/Soleil, Forrest/Avatar of either gender, Forrest/Ophelia, Forrest/Shigure, Forrest/Rhajat, Forrest/Kiragi

Leo
Leo having difficulty picking up a new weapon or staves? Leo having his preconceived notions about a subject or person challenged? In Birthright, Leo has to become the king of Nohr after Xander's death-- how does he deal with that?

Anything more with Leo and Forrest coming to a better understanding of each other would be lovely, as would anything with Leo receiving some positive attention from Camilla and/or Corrin. Or, if you're up for something shippier, I'd be interested to see how Leo manages if he gets together with someone who is very unlikely to want to spend their life in Nohr (Takumi would prefer Hoshido, Selena eventually needs to return to Ylisse, Azura seems to go back to Valle regardless of path etc).for gen: Leo & Camilla, Leo & Female Avatar, Leo & Forrest, Leo & Hayato, Leo & Takumi, Leo & Hinoka, Leo & Oboro
for shipping: Leo/Takumi, Leo/Selena, Leo/Azura

Soleil
Is Soleil completely a natural with girls or did she screw up early on like her father? Did she ever try and do a good deed with her group of mercenaries only for it to turn out that she helped the wrong person? Does her flirting ever get her into trouble with some of the adults she doesn't have supports with? She talks about liking other cute things like bunnies and so on-- maybe Soleil trying to befriend a stray cat or shopping with Forrest or Camilla?

In general I prefer Soleil's romances to be f/f, with Soleil/Forrest being the major exception since she openly says she loves that he's a guy with feminine presentation (though I'd also be very happy to see Soleil & Forrest platonic friendship).for gen: Soleil & Forrest, Soleil & Camilla, Soleil & Corrin, Soleil & Percy, Soleil & Hinata, Soleil & Hinoka
for shipping: Soleil/Forrest, Soleil/Female Avatar, Soleil/Nina, Soleil/Ophelia, Soleil/Rhajat

Takumi
So much of Takumi's dialogue with others is based on his worth as an archer and practicing his archery-- so what happens if he reclasses and has to start from square one with different weapons, or staves? How does he deal with working with so many Nohrians on the Revelations path?

Takumi's so tightly wound, it's always nice to see any moment where he lets his guard down or actually puts his trust in another person. Or admitting he needs something from someone else, or just having a little fun.for gen: Takumi & Female Avatar, Takumi & Leo, Takumi & Niles, Takumi & Selena, Takumi & Setsuna, Takumi & Hinoka
for shipping: Takumi/Camilla, Takumi/Leo, Takumi/Orochi
