Ewww, girl cooties all over my Star Wars!

Or at least, that's the impression I get from what I'm reading on message boards in response to a certain part of a new Clone Wars interview with Ashley Eckstein, regarding the developing relationship between Ahsoka and Padmé. No, not in that sense, guttery fanboys. ;)

Regarding Ahsoka and Padmé, Ashley says:

I think the prequels actually have more character focus than the OT, but I'll just agree to disagree there. Otherwise, I'm with you: I generally prefer the character stuff too. Hell, I was bored with the AotC Yoda/Dooku fight by the second viewing and I tend to fast-forward through the Battle of Hoth. My favorite action scenes are the ones that reveal something about the characters, like Vader and Luke's final RotJ duel.

I liked Siri too, but given how neutral I am on Obi-Wan himself, I wasn't too fussed either way about a revision to his romantic backstory. If you forced me to choose one love interest for him, I suppose it'd be Siri. I liked the way she got under Obi-Wan's skin, but then, Satine does that too. (The one thing about her that makes me want to eye-roll is the name, but even that I've worked past.)

Yes, the light sabers, the battles, the explosions and such is all part of it but if you had no characters there would be no story!

Exactly. Of course, if it were up to the more vocal fanboys, TCW would just be the Jedi and clones and Sith and battle droids tearing the snot out of each other with the occasional jocular banter to serve as "character moments."

Hehee, I actually like that we agree to disagree on things. Most people get all up in arms and OMMG about it as you know. I just never felt the same pull to the characters in the prequels - but that's a personal preference and not right or wrong kind of thing.

I keep wondering if they got the name Satine from Moulin Rouge. It's sort of silly but ...

Mmm, I love Obi-wan. XD All the more for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. ;)

Apparently the name "Satine" was a total coincidence. *SNORT*

And that's fine, you can have Obi-Wan alllll to yourself. ;)

*takes a sip from the daiquiri Qui-Gon's holding and tells Anakin to fan faster* Hmm, oh, I'm sure you can think of something.

I saw that Padres thing! Even though I don't like baseball, I'd totally be tempted if A) I had someone to go with and B) I lived in SoCal. Sigh.

Another Hoth-battle fast-forwarder signing in!

I fast-forward through the podrace in TPM, though I usually rewind and watch the dinner scene at least once.

I've met many people who are more drawn to the OT characters than the PT ones. It's just an opinion, and unless the person giving it uses it as a platform for a prequel-hating rant, I shrug it off.

I've seen claims that Han Solo is the most "realistic" character in either the OT and the PT. He's no such thing. He's stylized just like the other characters. What he is is the most contemporary character, giving voice to "hip" cynicism. And he is far from the only character in the saga to sneer at the Jedi or view them with disdain. Even Padmé snaps at Qui Gon in TPM: "You Jedi are far too reckless!" Qui Gon knows full well that this "young handmaiden" is the Queen; why else would he so enjoy needling her whenever she gets imperious?

Yup! Usually go straight from Vader choking Ozzel to the asteroid chase.

Same here. It's not a right or wrong thing, any more than preferring chocolate to vanilla.
