D'oh!

Add speed-reading to indiscriminantly reckless diet/sleep habits and my once-perfect vision on the list of my abilities that have apparently begun to atrophy with age. I'm about halfway through TTW. I watched the movie, which merely confirmed many things I'd already deduced from the book (both what I've read and the stuff I've cheated and flipped ( Read more... )

I want the option of being able to go out with friends if I can, but on the other hand I tend to find interacting with people straining/exhausting and just find it easier to be alone. The idea of curling up with my laptop piddling in Photoshop appeals to me more than going out and socializing with a random group of people.

I'm actually the same way...I crave companionship, but I'm not a big fan of people. It's a conundrum.

It gets worse around this time of year - friends want me to come out, but when I do, I always seem to feel left out. Everyone is part of a couple, so I'm the odd man out...and when I try to have conversations with my friends' friends, they'll show polite interest for a few minutes, then ignore me.

So I'm happier to be in my apartment alone, working or writing or reading.

I mean, I really can't complain. If I prefer to spend much of my time solo, of course I'm not going to meet many people. But I just wish it weren't so draining and seemingly pointless nearly every time I do try to socialize.

Totally. :-/

I feel the same way at times. More so in the winter when it is too cold to go out.

When do you leave for Mexico? Maybe you should just get a new one?

I wish mine was more a seasonal thing - but it's been a constant much of my life. I want friends, but I can barely stand to be around people. Heh. ;)

I leave soon enough that, basically, if I don't find it in the next couple of days, I'm probably going to have to pay for a replacement, and even that may end up pushing my trip back by a few days. Ugh.
