-- Seeing New Moon has actually made me more curious to at least attempt the Twilight books. Yeah, why am I considering spending time on a series where it doesn't appear I'll much like the main romance or the two main characters? One, I'm curious to see if the books do any better on making the main characters/romance sympathetic. Two... I was actually intrigued by some of the secondary characters. Well, intrigued may be too strong a word, but I found them more entertaining. In one of my favorite books ever, Stephen King's The Stand, I do find the main hero/heroine and their romance pretty dull, but the rest of the characters and story are interesting enough to keep me reading. Not that I expect Twilight to remotely measure up to The Stand (supernatural apocalyptic plague >>> vegetarian vamps). Three, it'll probably be a pretty light read and therefore not a lot of time spent getting through them. Four: if I do hate the books, at least I can critique them honestly - and hey, there's always the chance I won't end up completely hating them. Maybe little sis can help me finagle a cheap copy of the books somehow before she leaves her bookstore job.
-- Speaking of little sis and these books: assuming you're reading this, have you made good on your vow to finish the series yet? ;)
-- Oh, and it looks like the hepatitis in question in the previous posts was type C - which means, bad news for the girl who's got it (she'll have it forever), good news for the rest of us, including my coworker (it's only transmittable by blood). ETA: to be clear, it's not my coworker who's infected, but a family member of hers. My bad on the lack of clarity!
-- Rediscovering the Jurassic Park soundtrack. Damn if I don't love John Williams, and damned if it doesn't piss me off when soundtrack compilers/arrangers mush cues from different parts of the movie together on the same track, making it impossible to listen to the score in true film order. :P
