Shiny new place!

Since I've already discussed that other small thing that happened today, I can get on to the really important stuff. :)

I picked my apartment! I went with the shiny new 800 sq. ft. one, with the huge bathroom/bedroom/kitchen. OMG, I'll actually have room to put a real dining table! :) I wound up getting a second floor unit, which means I'll have someone above and below me - so I'm semi-concerned about getting noise from both ends, but on the other hand, it'll be great for utilities, since I'll be insulated on two sides and mooching off my downstairs neighbor's heat, since hot air rises. ;) I'll also have a real patio where I can put furniture and plants and other pretty things. I briefly considered a first floor or third floor apartment, but the only first-floor one they had available was reeeeally far in back and didn't get a lot of light, and I just do NOT relish the idea of hauling groceries and stuff up to the third floor (no matter how appealing the idea of vaulted ceilings).

The unit I picked is south-facing, which means I'll get a lot of sunlight. It's a little ways from the complex entrance, which means it's a bit of a drive once I get in the gate, and a bit of a walk to the pool/exercise area, but I think I can deal with that. I've got a fireplace, which adds $10/month rent, but that's fine. I can't wait to get in and start decorating, then post pretty pictures of it. :)

I'm in something of a dilemma over what to do with my behemoth 200+ pound TV set. On the one hand, it's a big screen, and still works great. On another hand, it's reeeeeally heavy to move downstairs and then upstairs again; my dad nearly tore his back hauling it the first time and doesn't want to do it again. (One of my co-workers has already volunteered her son's efforts if necessary, heh.) It seems the easiest thing to do would just be to put up a flyer up at work or on craigslist and ask someone to take it away, then just use my old 19-inch until I can afford a shiny HD flatpanel. But again... it's still a perfectly good TV; it's just an absolute bitch to move. Hmm.

Now, the unpleasant process begins: cleaning up my current apartment and beginning to pack. YUCK.

On another note: I'm absolutely loving my Abnormal Psych class! It's so fascinating, and the teacher is a hoot. I feel much more confident about Psychology as a major than I ever did about graphic design. :)
