Decisions, decisions

Hmm, been a while. Guess I just really haven't had much to post about.

So, right now I'm strongly considering moving into a new apartment. My lease here is about to run out, and I've been wanting to live someplace bigger, where I can actually *gasp* do my own laundry and have a "real" dining area, not a pub table crammed in the tiny corner of my tiny kitchen. After lengthy research, I narrowed it down to three complexes, all of which I looked at yesterday. (I'd inquired about simply moving into a larger unit in my current complex, but management has been incommunicado and frankly, I think this place has started to go downhill recently anyway. Water's always being shut off and I swear someone is coming in and using my DVD player when I'm not there. :-/)

Complex #1: Looks reasonably nice and clean, gated entrance, rent's not ridiculous. Even the tiny units have fireplaces and bay windows in the living room. But the whole complex is so small, and the covered parking is so cramped there's no way you're not getting dinged every time you open the door. I think I'd start to feel trapped in there fairly quickly. Also, the utilities are gas, I believe, not electric, which would make that bill somewhat irritating.

Complex #2: REALLY nice. Beaucoup closet space, big bathtubs, fireplaces, giant pool, really good/conveniently-located neighborhood (walking distance from a Barnes & Noble!), well-maintained, alarm monitoring is included in the rent, and they even pick up your trash. The only problem? Yep, the price. I could afford it on my current salary, but BARELY. It's $260 a month more than I'm paying now. MEEBLE. It'd be really tight until I get a raise or a higher-paying job, neither of which is particularly likely in this economy.

Complex #3: Okay neighborhood, price is right, but the complex is really old/run-down looking on the outside (leasing office didn't look too great either), plus the manager doesn't live on site, which means harder to get potential disputes resolved. Apparently the local minor-league hockey team lives there too, which probably doesn't help the noise.

I really, really liked Complex #2. It's a place I think I'd be proud to come home to (the place I live now is more a crash pad than a real home) and where I might actually meet some decent people. And they do have a unit opening up soon, whereas usually there's a several-month waiting list. So if I want it, I'm going to have to jump pretty damn quickly. It wasn't available to look at yesterday, so I'm going to go in this week and look. The big hesitation for me is it's going to make it much harder to set aside money for things like Azkatraz trips or dental work, especially while I'm in school. (Speaking of which, OMGNEWSEMESTERSTARTSTOMORROW.)

So basically I'm debating whether to jump on this place, or just keep looking. Hmm, hmm, hmm.

On an unrelated note: WTF is my new Clone Wars episode, iTunes? Not on, dudes. Not on.
