Random "Firsts" meme, from
jedi_em [1] Who was your FIRST prom date?
Didn't go to junior prom; a guy asked me, but I said no because I was still mooning over a guy in my class and was broke anyway. Almost ditched senior prom too, but my German exchange partner really wanted to go. So I went stag with her, my best friend, and her date. Danced with a couple of guys, one of whom was a guy pal of mind who was avoiding his actual date. Heh.
[2] Do you still talk to your FIRST love?
No.
[3] What was your FIRST alcoholic drink?
I dimly remember tasting a sip of my dad's beer when I was in around fifth grade or so (yuck), and a bit of champagne on some New Year's after that. First drink drink? Strawberry daiquiri at the Berlin Hard Rock Cafe in summer of '01, when I was 18.
[4] What was your FIRST job?
Volunteered several summers at the local library, who then hired me on as a page in my senior year of high school.
[5] What was your FIRST car?
'94 blue Chevy Cavalier, handed down from Mom.
RIP, Artoo. :(
[6] Who was the FIRST person to text you today?
I don't text.
[7] Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning?
Uh... me, in that I didn't want to get up. :P
[8] Who was your FIRST grade teacher?
Mrs. Smith, a young woman originally from Joplin, MO. I remember thinking she was nice, and that's it.
[9] Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?
San Francisco, connecting through Dallas-Ft. Worth, when I was 11. My sister and I flew out there to spend a month with our Bay Area relatives.
[10] Who was your FIRST best friend and are you still friends with them?
The first best friend I remember was in I think in first grade, and her name was Megann. I have no idea what happened to her.
[11] What was your FIRST sport played?
No clue. I'm not athletic. I remember trying to get on the volleyball team my sophomore year of high school, but I don't think the coach ever liked me much, so I never got to play in any actual matches.
[12] Where was your FIRST sleep over?
Either kindergarten or first grade, one of my classmates' birthday parties where the girl's mom actually let us watch Alien (or maybe it was Aliens, I'm not sure). My mom says I forgot my toothbrush and threw a hysterical hissy fit - which I have a VERY, VERY dim recollection of - after which no one really wanted to invite me over anymore. :P
[13] Who was the FIRST person you talked to today?
Living thing? Oz. Person? The receptionist at the vet when I dropped Oz off.
[14] Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time?
The first I attended was a second cousin's wedding in Arkansas. I remember it being LOOOONG and boring, and one of my parents said that was just how Catholic weddings were. The first I was actually in? My dad's when he married Janet. My sister and I to stand up there in front of the church and fight to keep from breaking down in angry tears. Neither of us did particularly well, but apparently Dad people thought they were happy tears and didn't think much of it. :P
[15] What was the FIRST thing you did this morning?
Turned off the alarm.
[16] What was the FIRST concert you ever went to?
I've... *gasp* never really been to one. (A couple of orchestra-recital-type deals, but not really a concert concert.) My first one will be in November, when Coldplay comes to OKC.
[17] FIRST tattoo or piercing?
No tattoos, unless you count the occasional scribble on my arm to remind myself of something. First and only piercing? Both ears, when I was still in grade school. I was so scared of the ear gun that I almost left the salon with only one ear pierced. Heh. Yes, I was a wuss when I was teeny. I still am.
[18] FIRST foreign country you went to for vacation?
First and only: Germany in summer 2001, right after I graduated high school. Went with a group of classmates as part of an exchange program. Best damn month of my life!
[19] What was your FIRST run in with the law?
Speeding ticket a couple of years ago. I remember that one clearly because, rather ironically, the station on my car radio was playing The Eagles' "Life in the Fast Lane." :P
[20] When was your FIRST detention?
First or second grade, I forget. For - of all things - talking. (I was notoriously shy all the way up through my first couple of years of high school.) It was for 20 minutes and I remember thinking it was actually kind of fun, because it was nice and quiet.
[21] What was the FIRST state you lived in?
Missouri. I was born in Springfield and my parents lived with me there for about six months before we moved to Louisiana (then Texas, then finally Oklahoma).
[22] Who was the FIRST person to break your heart?
Really, REALLY break it? My dad when he proved he didn't give a crap about my sister's and my feelings about him rushing through his marriage to a woman we'd barely met. Crack it pretty good? Probably the guy I crushed on all through my last two years of high school.
[23] Who was your FIRST roommate?
First and only? My sister, a few years ago, when she moved out of Mom's place and wouldn't go back to Dad and Janet, so I moved to a bigger apartment and she roomed with me. Disastrous arrangement: she lost her job, so I had to pay rent/utilities/all bills for TWO people on a tiny state employee's salary. Her boyfriend kept coming over at all hours of the day/night and fighting with her no matter how much I talked to her about it, too. Needless to say, the arrangement didn't last.
[24] Where did you go on your FIRST limo ride?
I don't think I ever have!
I work with the coolest people. I shared my chocolate with one of my coworkers at a really long committee meeting yesterday, and this morning I arrive to find two homemade chocolate chip cookies on my desk. :) Yay!
One day to Clone Wars! :D
