Rest in Peace little one.
Rudy came to live with us back in 2001. He was a rescue, having been left out as coyote bait in Spring Valley. A friend saved him and gave him to us. Through all of the ups and downs my family has had in last 7 years or so Rudy has always been there as a comforting force. When he had to go live with my grandmother, we weren't sure how they would get a long because Nonnie isn't an animal person. But Rudy became her shadow and soon the two of them were inseparable. Over the last year or so, his health has been declining, so much so that he was totally blind and his skin was so thin that it was breaking open easily. In the last week he fell on his face and broke his jaw and could no longer eat or drink. He was on a liquid diet just to see if he had anything left in him but last night he died in his bed right next to my grandmother's chair. Right where he wanted to be. Thank you Rudy for always looking after her and my mother before her. You will be missed.
