26// [accidental video]

[There's the familiar (to some) sound of the TARDIS coming to a stop and blurry motion, as if the person holding the device is moving at a quick pace.]

This isn't right...

[It comes to a stop and is set on a console... only it looks a little different. So does Romana for that matter, but she's more concerned about checking the dials and displays than ( Read more... )

i need help, tardis design issues, accidental video, generally cursed, wandering in the city, looking for someone, doctor missing (again)

Are you having some difficulty with your Secondary Compass?

[ooc: He's so cursed. He's talking out of his ear. I don't know. But I've wanted to poke Romana for ages.]

My-? Well, not exactly, but the primary navigation system seems to have a mind of it's own at the moment.

[ooc: Poke away, and technobabble ahoy, Romana will be oblivious.]

One normally gets tossed around across the aether without really going anywhere like that when one is having difficulties with the Secondary Compass. But I think you'd know your ship best. I hope that you'll be able to repair it easily.

...yes, well things being as they are I might wait this out for a short time.

[pauses, confused]

Are you familiar with ships in your world?

That may be best, though I hope it can be repaired. I'm having to wait out repairs at the moment myself, and it can be tedious at best.

No, I'm not especially familiar with ships in my world--beyond the necessary things one needs to know to pilot the smaller ones.

Yes, well, I have reason to believe this will be sorted in a day or so.

You're a pilot, then?

I hope so.

Not really, no. I only know how to handle a Dragonfly, but almost anyone can do that, if they're clever enough. I can't handle anything larger, and I'd just as soon book passage than try to get myself across any great distance.

A Dragonfly? What a curious name for transportation. How is it powered?

Have you never seen one before? They're fairly common where I come from. They're aetherically powered--well, strictly speaking, they are. The bottled aether is used to provide the steam for it. That's really what powers the wings.

This place is more of a backwater than I realised.

It's hardly a backwater, sir, just more accustomed to electricity, jet propulsion, magnetic repulsors, and other varied forms of levitation.

I suppose we're even, then, since I have no idea what jet propulsion is. I can hazard a guess, but I've never seen that in use before.

It's fairly common in one of the worlds I've traveled in.

And apologies, in all the confusion I've lost my manners. My name is Romana, might I ask yours?

I see.

Likewise, so have I. I do apologise. Cain Hargreaves. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Likewise, have you been in the City long?
