Xenosaga I&II DS chapter 20 summary
This one was a quickie.

- Someone is trying to contact Albedo who is in a particle state. Albedo doesn’t understand what is happening because even though he has been reduced to particles, he retained his consciousness. These people want to lend him their power because they need him. They want to make him contact U-DO. Albedo refuses but he is forced by these people and since he has no other choice, he contacts U-DO…
- On board the Elsa Shion asks KOS-MOS for explanations. KOS-MOS tells her that she did that to stop the progression of the anomaly and protect Shion. MOMO confirms that KOS-MOS did stabilize the anomaly while Shion wants to know who told KOS-MOS to protect her. KOS-MOS responds that it is impossible to give Shion a response. They only thing she can tell her is that if nothing is done in a short amount of time the anomaly will start to grow again and if it spreads throughout the universe, a new world will be born. The fact that no one else is in the region other than them means that they have no choice but to go and stop the anomaly. They decide that first of all they must concentrate on gathering information to know what to expect. At the same time, Ziggy receives a call from a member of SOCE. Shion goes to look for Jr.
- Jr. tries to understand why Albedo knew certain things for 14 years and never told him. Suddenly, Albedo mentally contacts him. He wants to create a new world. Jr. knows that isn’t what Albedo really wants. Albedo asks him if he really understands the message. Jr. says yes and tells him he’ll come. Shion arrives and suspects he communicated with Albedo. She asks him what he intends to do. Jr. explains that he’ll go fight him. Deep down he knows he always wanted to and he knows that’s what Albedo wants. He also learns of Ziggy’s news. Juli will send pieces to repair him via the UMN so everything will be better. Jr. decides to go visit him.
- At the end of his conversation with Juli, Jr. shows up and asks how things are going with him. He also decides to ask him what happened between him and Voyager. Ziggy hesitantly explains that Voyager killed his wife and son and to escape his invitation(?) he committed suicide. Jr. thanks him for telling him all that.
- Jr. meets MOMO just before he goes alone to confront Albedo. She asks him to promise that he’ll come back. Everyone arrives and Shion and Ziggy explain that they know well that Jr. has his reasons for going there but they too have their own reasons. They want to stop the space-time anomaly and stop the disaster. Jr. understands but he still wants to go alone. MOMO slaps him in the face like Sakura would have. But Jr. explains that when he goes there he will have to fight Albedo and he’ll show a side that he doesn’t want anyone to see. But MOMO explains that she doesn’t care and she wants to be with him to support him. In the end, Jr. gives in and allows the others to accompany him.
- In the anomaly, MOMO quickly realizes that they’re in Albedo’s world. Jr. encounters a young Albedo. He provokes Jr. by asking him if he intends to let his friends fall and watch them as they die as he had 14 years earlier. He faces him, then disappears. Further along he encounters adult Albedo, who provokes him by calling MOMO a doll. He tells him that he took a lot of pleasure in his contact in the Song of Nephilim and if it had been Jr. who had “searched” her she surely would have taken pleasure. Jr. angrily confronts him. Later he comes across the Simeon, which is nothing other than another of Albedo’s apparitions. They confront it, then finally arrive at Albedo’s throne room.
- After some dialogue with Albedo, Jr. gets ready to fight him. Shion wants to stop him but Jr. asks her to let him go. He didn’t come here to reconcile but to make Albedo disappear. Shion is shocked and can’t do anything more but to let things happen. After the fight, Jr. sees a scene from when they were in the institute. Albedo is making graves for Rubedo and Nigredo so he won’t cry when they die. He also envisions linking with U-DO so he can be killed by Rubedo and not suffer. Then, returning to the present, Albedo begins to disappear. He realizes that Jr. understood everything. Jr. confirms that when he breathed in Albedo’s molecules he understood everything clearly. He also understood what happened the day that Sakura died. When Albedo went to help Sakura, he came across a sphere of energy which represented U-DO. He realized that he desires U-DO. He was created with the goal to access U-DO. But Sakura came and pushed Albedo, who was about to contact U-DO, out of the way and took his place. Albedo asked if Sakura did that for Rubedo. She said no, she did it for him. He told her that he wanted U-DO to help him evolve. But Sakura told him that his true wish isn’t U-DO but to live with Jr. Then Sakura died in front of him; he couldn’t do anything to save her. Back to the present, Jr. asks him why he didn’t tell him that earlier. But Albedo wanted to disappear more than anything. It’s his victory over Jr. Then the Kirschwasser from the Woglinde comes and takes Albedo with her.
- Shion thinks of everyone who has died since the beginning. She hopes that one day she’ll be able to see them again. As for chaos, he thinks he underestimated the strength of Shion and the others and that he had hesitated too much. He thought that like the other times the burden would be too much to bear. But he is mistaken. Nephilim tells him that it isn’t too late; he still has time ahead of him. Jr. shows Mary the dog he wants to keep on the bridge. Gaignun surprises him and threatens that he’ll take Jr.’s gun collection away if he continues with more stupidity. Upon seeing him, Jr. thinks of Albedo’s words concerning Gaignun’s potential dangers. He asks himself if all this is linked to the fact that Hammer found that Yuriev’s call originated from the Durandal. Shion thinks about KOS-MOS’ mission to protect her. Who could have given her this order and what is KOS-MOS’ true goal? Margulis talks with Heinlein. Everything is happening as it was foreseen. Heinlein asks Margulis to stay in the shadows for the moment. In any case “she” will soon appear. On the bridge of the Durandal, the Zohar is detected. Then, a huge gnosis is detected. An enormous vessel suddenly appears; Wilhelm calls it “Abel’s Ark”. The vessel absorbs the Zohar and disappears. Wilhelm is glad that Yeshua is also watching this happen. chaos gives Wilhelm his reply: he will not hesitate any longer. Wilhelm is delighted in advance. (after this the prologue is identical to the PS2’s)
