Don't forget Macbeth, what with the pseudo-Scottish tribesmen attacking Asha while camouflaged as trees.

Crackpot theory: Missandei, and the people of Naath generally, are children of the forest/those who sing the song of earth. From Bran's chapter in ADwD, "They had nut-brown skin, dappled like a deer's with pale spots, and large ears that could hear things no man could hear. Their eyes were big too, great golden cat's eyes that could see down passages where a boy's eyes saw only darkness. . . . From far away Leaf looked like a girl, no older than Bran. . . . The singers sing sad songs, while men would fight and kill."

From back in ASoS, Dany describing Missandei: "No older than ten, she had the round flat face, dusky skin, and golden eyes of Naath. . . . The little scribe with the big golden eyes was wise beyond her years." And of her homeland Naath: "the Peaceful People made music instead of war." In ADwD, her hearing is consistently better than anyone else's: she hears scratching that Irri and Jhiqui don't, and is the only one to hear Dany say "please" at an audience.

. . .still haven't come up with a reason for why no one would notice if Missandei only had four fingers, each ending in claws. Possibly the Naathi branch of those who sing the songs of earth have interbred with humans or otherwise mutated somewhat from their Westerosi cousins?
