An Open Letter to the beloved Community

An open letter to my community:

What an interesting ten years it has been. From cutting my ‘den mother’ teeth at Black Leather Weekend; to assistant producing Mr./Ms. NM Leather; to handling VIPS for RGL, then being one of the producers of Rio Grande Leather, the decade has been filled with lessons and memories, struggles and laughter, hard work and even harder play, and many…many….MANY meetings.

I have seen organizations rise and fall, old friends come and go, and new friends come through the doors. The decade of service to our community has been rewarding and eye-opening; I have learned a great deal about myself, and about other people. I have loved deeply, worked hard, I have taught and I have learned. And I have also given up hiding all the silver hairs the process has gifted me with! Next time you see me, check out my silver ‘tiara’, as Charm calls it. One of them may even have your name on it….;-)

All levity aside…..the time has come for me to step away from event production, and move on to other things my life is bringing me. While I still hold RGL and especially my co-producers, Toni and AlphaboyRex, in the highest of regard, respect, and affection, other dreams and visions are calling my name. Career, household, travel, further education, and perhaps different endeavors in our multi-faceted community are asking for my focus and my energy, and it is time for me to turn my attention to them.

I wish continued success and the very best of everything for the groups and organizations which give so much to New Mexico, and to the stellar individuals who give so much of their time and energy to create safe and welcoming spaces - RGL, TNG, NMLL, the Leather Wolves, AEL, the Bears of Manana, FetLife NM, KinkSkills, the munches, the coffee groups, the wonderful organizations springing up in southern New Mexico. I will continue to support and participate as I am able, and I am always available to give a listening ear, a warm hug, or simply to share a cup of coffee and quiet conversation.

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and to serve these many years. You can count on my support and the continuing presence of Solestri, and you can bet I’ll be in touch. But for now, at least, my sights must be trained on other things.

I do, however, remain -

Yours in Leather,
Katalina
