Title: Drifting
Fandom: Nightmare
Pairings: Ni~yaxSakito (main), RukaxNi~yaxSakito
Rating: NC17
Spoilers/Warnings: Smex and threesomes.
Disclaimers: I don’t own them, I’m not implying any of this is true, God isn’t that nice to me.

Summary: Life has been going well for Ni~ya. Not only is he doing well at something he loves, it has also brought him his first serious relationship in years. So what if he is less forthcoming about his relationship than his boyfriend wants him to be?

Despite his stoic front, Ruka is unsatisfied with his life but can’t actually pinpoint why. Clouding his feelings further are the fact that the person he likes is in a serious relationship with someone else.

Sakito sees all of this but does nothing. That’s until an unorthodox solution comes to him, but will it prove too much of a gamble?

A/N:This is actually an old fic that I wrote as a birthday present for the lovely aitakute but given what I know now about Nightmare as a band, was deserving as a rewrite. Also, I was inspired by a couple of great Ni~yaxSakito writers :) I will update the remainder of the fic next weekend fingers crossed.

Read, enjoy and please comment ^^

You’ve been gone so long all that you know,
Has been shuffled aside as you bask in the glow,
Of the beautiful strangers that whisper your name,
Do they fill up the emptiness?

Larger than life is your fiction, in a universe made up of one

‘Cause you have been drifting for so long,
I know you don't want to come down,
But somewhere below you there’s people who love you,
And they are waiting for you to come home.

Please come home.

“That’s it! I don't know about the rest of you, but I refuse to rehearse anymore,” Yomi proclaimed loudly as he collapsed cross legged on the floor, his words of protest accompanied by the muffled jingle of the multitude of chains attached to his belt as it made contact with the carpeting.

Ruka’s lips quirked upwards in a smirk that he couldn't quite suppress at the vocalist’s antics. The truth was, they hadn’t been practicing for that long, but from the way Yomi was acting, most would have thought that he had been forcefully chained to his mike stand.

However, the rest of Nightmare had actually been expecting Yomi’s revolt once he showed up to rehearsal with pink cat ears in his hand, which he then promptly used to decorate Hitsugi’s straw-coloured head.

“Always the dramatic one aren’t you Zozzy,” Ni~ya remarked wryly. “But I have to agree with you this time. This tour has left me bushed, I don’t even know why we insist on having a dry run.”

Ni~ya’s last comment was meant squarely for band leader Sakito, who simply ignored the bassist’s subtle jibe and just continued fiddling idly with the strings of his guitar.

“Well if some people didn’t keep dropping their notes….” Sakito murmured out of the corner out his mouth as he raised an eyebrow in Ni~ya’s direction before turning to face the rest of the band.

“Well, since the concert is only tomorrow, and we do have a feel for the acoustics of the place, I don't think the powers-would-be would really mind if we played hooky for the afternoon,” Sakito added as he took off his guitar and rubbed his shoulder.

“They shouldn't really, we already sound pretty great,” Yomi said with only the faintest trace of conceit in his smile.

“The instruments were great but the vocals sounded terrible,” a mocking voice commented from the back of the auditorium that was currently shrouded in darkness.

“Who the fuck said that?” Yomi snarled as he got to his feet. His eyes narrowed as he tried to pick out the owner of the insulting comment but couldn't as the glare of the spotlight almost blinded him.

“House lights!”

Yomi barked out the order as he tapped his foot impatiently and waited for light to slowly flood the hall until finally it was bring enough for him to see the attractive blonde standing in the isles. He had a positively wicked grin on his face, which was emphasised by the cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth.
Yomi’s brown eyes immediately softened.

“You’re one to talk, during your concert I can’t tell whether you’re singing or murdering a cat,” the Nightmare vocalist retorted as he made his way to the front of the stage.

“At least I don't screech like one in heat,” the blonde replied as he walked forward to meet him.

But even as they exchanged insults, Yomi had his hands firmly braced on the older man’s shoulders as Kyo grabbed him by the waist so he could lift him off the stage and straight into his waiting embrace.

Slipping his arm around his boyfriend’s neck, Yomi gave Dir en grey’s frontman a lingering kiss on the lips.

“You’re early,” Yomi commented affectionately. Kyo shook his head.

“You’re late,” Kyo corrected motioning to his watch, confirming Sakito’s suspicion that Yomi’s sudden bout of laziness was nothing more than an excuse to squeeze in a date.

“You’re both nauseating,” Ni~ya said in disgust as he pretended to throw up. “God, Kyo, I can just about accept our Zozzy here as being all Mills & Boons, but you…. you’re supposed to be all evil and spewing blood for fuck’s sake.”

Yomi groaned inwardly as he felt Kyo stiffen before firmly pushing him away. Whether Ni~ya meant to or not, he had just chosen to push Kyo’s trigger button, which explained the sudden shift in attitude. The blonde was so extraordinarily sensitive about their relationship that one wrong comment could send him into a sour mood for days, which proved a right pain in the ass for the younger vocalist.

“Lets go Zozzy,” Kyo said brusquely. “See you guys around.” He tossed this goodbye over his shoulder as he stalked away.

“Thanks a buggering lot Ni,” Yomi hissed angrily as he hastily grabbed his bag and chased after his temperamental lover. He could almost feel the interested eyes of his bandmates watching them as he persistently tried to grab Kyo’s hand only to have the blonde pull away every time.

His heart sinking, Yomi finally decided to give up and settled for just waling instep beside the Kyo, his chin buried dejectedly into his chest. However, he received a pleasant surprise a minute later when Kyo unexpectedly pulled him close to drop a kiss on his cheek, his lips soft and dry in comparison to the warm fleeting touch of his tongue.

Unbeknownst to both of them, Ruka saw all of this and his lips lifted upwards as he saw his friend offer Kyo a loving half-smile in return. However, there was no happiness in this smile, rather a trace of wistfulness along with an air of resignation that was almost palpable.

The drummer was so deep into his own thoughts that he didn't notice a pair of dark eyes observing him closely, while at the same time a different set of eyes were looking at the both of them with suspicion.

“I’d better go as well,” Hitsugi said, checking his phone as he absently scratched the base of his cat ears. “Aki just sent me a message that said ‘save me or so help me God…’, so I better go rescue him.”

Ni~ya rolled his eyes at his friend.

“I swear Hitsugi, I know the both of you were both good friends before you decided to jump each others bones, but I wonder sometimes what it is you have in common besides an unusual number of unnatural holes,” Ni~ya said snarkily.

Hitsugi shrugged.

“We both have large penises?” Hitsugi answered deadpan before breaking into a grin. He couldn't contain his laughter as he delivered this uncharacteristic parting shot before noisily marching off the stage.

“More than we need to know you hornball!” Ni~ya flashed him the middle finger, which only made the guitarist laugh harder.

“Take it easy Hitsugi, we still have to perform tomorrow. I don't want the fans to worry if they see you limping,” Sakito couldn't resist adding, chuckling when Hitsugi stuck his tongue out at him before slamming the door behind him.

“I don't know about you, but I’m starving and need a drink, screw the acceptable time,” Ni~ya said matter-of-factly as he placed his bass to the side.

“Join me Sakito?” he asked, his words a polite invitation but Sakito knew the offer wasn't as innocent as it sounded.

“I can’t Ni~ya sorry, but I have a couple of important errands to run. The bank, dry-cleaning and the like,” he replied, injecting what he hoped was the correct measure of regret into his voice.

“Why don't you go with Ruka? I’m sure you wouldn't mind an early afternoon drink,” Sakito added, suddenly catching hold of the drummer’s arm.

Ruka was so startled by this that he almost missed the hard look of surprise that Ni~ya shot the guitarist.

“Normally I wouldn't mind Ni, but I have some urgent things to take care of as well,” Ruka answered flatly, unsure as to what exactly was going on.

Funnily enough, Ruka had always been fine when it came to drinks with Ni~ya. In fact, he enjoyed drinks with the bassist the most because their temperaments were so similar. It was so different with the other three that were less laid back when they hung out, Yomi in particular they had to stop from bouncing off the walls.

But recently, Ruka couldn't put his finger on why he was enjoying Ni~ya’s company less. It was as if both were hiding something from the other, which resulted in a tension that cloaked the both of them like smog.

“Another time dude?” Ruka said apologetically as reached for his bag.

However, Ni~ya was just too annoyed at this point to act civil. He opened his mouth to snap at Sakito when a sudden movement from Ruka stopped him.

Later, when he had a chance to reflect, Ni~ya wasn't sure what exactly what had prompted him to hold his tongue. Maybe it was the wisp of darkness he caught in Ruka’s eyes that he felt didn't have the right to be there.

Regardless, Ni~ya suddenly felt the urge to kiss Ruka hard on the mouth. To aggressively part those cupid bow lips with his tongue and taste deep inside. Ni~ya was a dominant lover, but there was something about Ruka’s coldness that made him want to challenge the older man.

The bassist took a hurried step back as if shocked by the sudden thought.

“Whatever,” he said in a gruff voice and what he hoped was a casual shrug of his shoulders. Turning his back to the both of them he silently collected his jacket before exiting stage left.

Sakito winced.

“What crawled up his ass and died?” Ruka asked as he pulled his cigarettes from his pocket and placed one in his mouth.

“Who knows,” Sakito answered nonchalantly but inside, worried gnawed away at him. He had gotten a glimpse of Ni~ya’s expression as he walked past and it was clear to him that the bassist’s emotions were all over the place.

After zipping up his guitar case, Sakito rested his forehead against his clasped hands.

He had a bad feeling about this.
