Holy fic recs, Batman!!
All right, only because I still have all the windows open, I will retype my fic recs tonight. I will retype my squealing fangirl reaction to Batman Begins tomorrow at some point.
Suffice it to say, it went much like this:

Like... Wow. It actually followed canon. It brought me INSANE joy.
SO sucked into the Batverse now. Knew I would be. This happens from time to time. Heh. I love my Batman. More will follow on why, tomorrow or something, at least.

Suffice it to say, the movie was PERFECT. More than I expected.
Go see it. NOW. I wanna see it again. NOW.
Anyway, mainly for zoe_chan's benefit, some fic recs.
These are all by Syl Francis tonight, because I am tired and it is late. And she ROCKS, and knows her stuff and is awesomeness.
So, start with Hands, which is hands down, a fave. It's bittersweet, and sad. The parallels between Martha and Thomas Wayne's funerals and John and Mary Grayson's funerals are... well, awesome. The funeral scene in the movie made me go "oo, where's that fic?" and I am happy to find it safely saved in my bookmarks. Awesome and touching.
Then, there is Epilogue, which takes place at the end of the "Robin: Year 1" arc. It was written before the ending came out, but it is awesome. (I have this book, btw, Theanna, should you be interested. I LOVE it.) Anyway, Robin was beaten quite badly by Two-Face, so Batman fired him. (Like you do, when you don't know how to handle children and attachment to them...) So, Dick decides to run away, and leaves a note for Bruce that says "You don't want a partner and you don't need a son." This fic deals with that, and Bruce tells Dick that "want" and "need" are relative terms. I love this. I love it a LOT. Better than the way the comic ended, in all honesty.
I love how Syl writes the strangely twisted father/son relationship between Bruce and Dick. I love her characterizations, and if the endings can sometimes be a bit sappy... eh, I'm a sap. So...
Robin, the Boy of Steel is an Elseworlds' fic. In other words, AU. But an awesome one, in which Robin is SuperBoy... complete with being found by John and Mary Grayson and being raised in all other ways as the Dick Grayson we know and love... except with super-powers. There is Batman, and Bruce Wayne and Alfred... and Selina Kyle! Woot! And Ra's Al Ghul!! And his daughter (whose name is Talia, btw, The)! And Falcone. And, oo, kryptonite. Excuse me while I hum "Superman."
As a warning, it is long. 5 long chapters in ff.net, but really 26 chapters with an epilogue. But so worth it. There's a great family dynamic between Dick, Bruce and Selina. And Alfred rocks, as always. And Clark Kent is so fun. I find I really do like AUs.
What are little boys made of? is just plain cute. In which Dick loses his stuffed elephant and rightfully loses his temper, and Bruce figures out that he is an adult and should make Dick happy. So looks for missing elephant. It's just a cute fic, and they are happy.
I have a weakness for Dick-as-a-young-boy fics, btw, as this is making far too apparent. I swear I will find some Just Bruce fics one day soon. :P
You gave me wings is... well, it's kinda mushy. But the premise, I like. Dick dies. Barbara Gordon, Oracle, delivers a box to Bruce for him with a message inside. It might be a *tad* too touchy-feely to be completely realistic, but hey, it's fanfic. Deal.
Fathers and Sons is about the transition Alfred, Bruce and Dick go through when Dick comes to live with them. It's not an easy one.
"I thought you understood that. I'm your mentor . . . your teacher. I'm not your father."
"Sure, I understand, Bruce. My parents are dead. Thanks for the reminder."
I just like those lines. Go figure.
Always a Woman to Me is a fic about Bruce and Selina, Batman and Catwoman... :) Because I have a weakness for this OTP. :P Doomed, yes, but that's part of the appeal. (And forgive me, I haven't read this in forever, I just remember liking it. So.) And I refuse to see the Catwoman movie because they so mutilated the canon. Gah.
So, that's all for tonight, for I am tired... and I hear birds. Oops. :P

And, because Theanna says she likes them, I have a few Batfics. 3, but 1 I don't care much for. The two I like... fine.
Graveside Confessions was more of a 'deal with issues by giving them to your characters' fic for me, but it worked. In which Dick mourns his parents on the anniversary of the day they died, and he and Bruce discuss mourning differences.
Lost Boy is about Dick coming to live in Wayne Manor, and follows quite closely the cartoon episode "Robin's Reckoning"... but with lots more emotion. :P
Keep in mind, I wrote these... wow, 3 years ago, now. I feel old.
Also, I hate the way they look. I need to re-upload them and edit them, because I hadn't figured out ff.net's new system yet. Bah. All my lovely scene changes vanished, much to my SUPREME annoyance.
