Fandom Cliche Meme

Snagged from several people, because I like seeing what people think about these things and, you know, have to throw in my two cents. ;)

And as others have said, Note: just because something is not my kink doesn't mean I have a problem with it. To each their own.

Genderswap: As with many of these, it totally depends on how it's done. It's not something I seek out or that I want, even, but I'll read it. If it's something where a character was born the other gender and has always been that, I'm interested to see how they are the same or different, but if it's an excuse for porn or whatever, I'm done. And if it's a magic thing, I like seeing how a character reacts. But it's hard to get right, and it feels like it's usually an excuse for porn, and then I have to be in the right mood.

Bodyswap: I can take it or leave it. It's an interesting concept, and I love it when it's done well--hello JLA episode where Lex Luthor and the Flash get swapped. But again, it depends on the execution.

Drunk!fic: Meh. Drunk as an excuse for porn gets too close to hitting my consent issues. But Tim-or-Dick-get-drunk-because-they-can't-hold-their-liquor-and-say-anything-that's-on-their-mind? Or even someone getting drunk and revealing what's really bothering them. Those are things I like. So as long as sex isn't involved, I guess I'm for it!

Huddling together for warmth: OMG YES. A thousand times yes. Yes. ...Yeah, I don't even have any other commentary, except GIMME.

Undercover in a gay bar: I don't even really get this. Like, at all. This is a trope? Okay then. It does nothing for me, but I haven't read any.

Pretending to be married: You know, I could see this being fun. I don't think I've read it, but I think it would be more fun if the people pretending have UST or repressed feelings or something.

Secretly a virgin: Blah, no. I mean, I'm of the opinion that in canon, Tim's a virgin, but I don't think it's some big OMGSECRET. It doesn't factor in as something important enough to build a fic on, for me. Or maybe it's just that I'm done with the 'haha, so-and-so's a virgin!' stuff in comedies these days.

Amnesia: Uh, yes, sometimes. It's a guilty pleasure thing. I don't know that I've read a lot of it, though. But I also want them to get their memories back and have a happy ending, because that's how I roll. ;)

Cross-dressing: Eh. Take it or leave it. It's not a kink for me, anyway. But I do love that sometimes the Batfamily cross-dresses and they all make pretty women. It amuses me. Cross-dressing as a plot device for porn kind of confuses me, but whatever floats your boat.

Forced to share a bed: I repeat my OMGYES, YES, YES. Especially if the people sharing the bed start out trying to avoid each other and wind up waking up huddled together. Double especially if they have underlying feelings for each other or are developing them.

Aliens made them do it: No thank you. I take issue with the lack of consent and the voyeurism. Not my things.

Wingfic: Uh... not so much. I haven't read enough to have an opinion either way, I guess.

Mpreg: NO THANK YOU. Just. No. No, no, and no.

Mistakenly assumed to be gay: Bleh, no. This seems like it would just lead to embarrassment and is annoying.

Let's play truth or dare: Heh, I don't mind these. I mean, it's even canon for Young Justice! :D I just haven't read much. There should maybe be more.

Mary Sue fic: Meh. I never seek them out, that's for sure.

Aphrodisiacs: Okay, so this and sex pollen are both... problematic. I don't think I would mind as much if they weren't sort of

Curtain fic: SO MUCH YES. Especially with superheroes or people who we don't often get to see being domestic and having calm, quiet moments.

Hurt/Comfort: Hahaha, YES. It's my bulletproof fic kink, really. I especially love bedside vigils and confessions to someone sleeping. If I'm sick, what I want is to read about someone sick and miserable and being taken care of. I don't know. It's a thing.

Apocalypse fic: You know, I have read some awesome apocalypse fic. I guess it depends on the fic, mostly, but I have liked it.

Someone has a baby: I love this. I can't help it. Show me a guy good with babies, or a happy future fic with children and I'm mush.

Baby!fic: If this is de-aged, it depends. Adorable, precocious children are something I love, but then I want things fixed. And also, as an elementary teacher, I actually do know what children at various ages are like, so if they are written in a way that makes it obvious an adult (or teenager) is trying to write a child and failing--I wind up getting too caught up in that.

Telepathic soulbonding: I have some soft spots for this. I mean, I read the Night World books when I was 14, so of course that soulmate imprinting thing had an impression. ;) And I love Scott and Jean's bond. But it's not something I need.

Werewolves mate for life: Heh, I don't read nearly enough werewolf fic for this to be a particular kink for me. And if I did, it's possible Breaking Dawn might have made it creepy to the point of ruining it for me. ;)

And, why not? (No promises, though.) Meme snagged from penknife:

If you could have me write a fic specifically for you, what would it be like? Fandom, characters/pairing, genre, plot elements, kinks (if applicable)... what's your ideal fic from me?
