5 Times Bart Babysat Lian for
pervyficgirl:
1. Bart had read, like, five books on child development and two books on babysitting, and the Red Cross handbook, so it wasn’t like he was unprepared. Even though Roy told him he could plug in a movie, he didn’t really want to be that babysitter. So, he took Lian to the park. Hilarity ensued and probably Lian had a blast, but apparently even Kid Flash can be run ragged. Bart rethought his opinion on what kind of babysitter he wanted to be.
2. Bart remembered a recipe he’d read for salt dough, which is like play-doh but homemade. By the end of the evening, there was salt and flour all over the kitchen, and Bart’s hands were stained every color imaginable from the food coloring. Lian had dough in her hair, and a streak of pink across her chin, and they set off the fire alarm baking their creations. But after an hour, Lian had an entire zoo of salt dough sculptures to play with.
3. Bart’s first mistake was asking Lian what she wanted to do. His second mistake was agreeing that, yeah, making a fort in the living room would be really cool. His third mistake was agreeing that of course they needed costumes to play “Beauty and the Beast.” His fourth mistake was when he decided to see if reading about sewing was the same as learning how to sew.
Lian got a very impressive Belle costume out of the evening, and Roy got some pretty spectacular blackmail material thanks to that damn camera.
4. Bart read Lian a bedtime story, which was really not a good reason for him to still be reading two hours later. But Lian said he used the best voices ever and she liked it when he read the scary parts faster than the not-scary parts.
Flattery will get you everywhere-and it will also get you five extra bedtime stories.
5. Even if Bart didn’t remember everything he read and saw with almost perfect eidetic memory, he’s absolutely certain that he will be, like, a hundred and seven years old and still trying to get “Under the Sea” out of his head.
Note: I make salt dough with the kids at camp every summer and it's the messiest, most fun project I do. :)
Totally will still take requests, I love these things. ;)
Also, never thought I'd be GLAD for a power outtage, but this Patriots' Day Nor'Easter knocked it out at about 10 am and so we're spending the night at my grandmother's--where there is power and heat and *internet*--albeit stolen wireless internet from a neighbor, but still.
We're in a state of emergency and half the roads between here and home are closed, and that's ALL the news talked about. I didn't even hear about VirginiaTech until the national news, and I think that's just wrong, even given the damage the storm has done here. I'm glad everyone on my flist seems fine, and I hope your loved ones are, too. ♥
(I have no Bart icons? This needs to be fixed.)
