merfilly requested something about Narnia and I just happened to have this started; it's one of those scenes that never made it into
Lives By Breaking (the fic I wrote for
yuletide. But there is absolutely no reason this can't be read on it's own. :)
Lucy sinks with a contented sigh onto a chair next to Tumnus. She is so happy, she feels she might burst and shower her joy over all of Narnia. Turning to her friend, she says, “Oh, Tumnus, I am so glad you’ve come. Your timing is impeccable!”
He smiles. “It is rather fortuitous, I must say.”
Lucy laughs, her joy bubbling up and out. “Have you ever seen my brother so happy?” she asks, watching Peter dance with the woman who, after tonight, will be her sister.
Tumnus pats her hand gently. “This is a happy day.”
Lucy beams. “Why did you come?”
Tumnus leans toward her, winking. “That, my dear Queen Lucy, is for all four of you to hear.”
She grabs his arm eagerly. “Oh, do tell me. I won’t spoil it for them!”
Tumnus cannot help but laugh at her enthusiasm. He leans closer to tell her in hushed tones of a mystical White Stag.
Sitting next to her dearest friend on a warm autumn night, watching her family and beloved Narnians celebrate, Lucy cannot imagine what wish the Stag might grant her when they catch it. They are safe and happy; what more can she ask?
I have a few other Narnia fics
at my website. I'll still
take requests. :)
