Not bad for a year's work.

Jan 04, 2007 23:17

Well, it's a bit late, yes, but I decided to do that "what you've written this year" thing that's been happening in more interesting LJs. ;)

All in all, considering I took three literature courses last spring and had no life of my own and then spent the summer in a perpetual writer's block... I'm fairly impressed. Here's hoping I do better in 2007!

Harry Potter:

Believe
2,037 words; Ernie MacMillan genfic.

He thinks of God and the Devil and Jesus Christ and magic. He doesn’t know what he believes, but he knows that the ghost sitting next to him somehow made room for all of these things and believes in them even after he has died. Ernie cannot imagine turning away from Heaven, if he believes in it.

Quite proud of this one, actually. :)

Draco Dormiens Numquam Titillandus
2,615 words; Founders fic; co-written with zoe_chan and it was entirely xenokattz's fault. As most things are.

Salazar, where were you when Godric was close enough to tickle a dragon’s underbelly?

We must have had this conversation before. Surely. That dragon SAT on me.

Well, not technically, as then I wouldn’t have needed to bother trying to save your ungrateful hide.

Alas, mere feet between Salazar and death by crushing.

Drabbles:

Two drabbles about Tonks for zoe_chan.

Two Harry Potter and Two RENT drabbles as requested by aradiachiba and scribophile.

X-Men and Hufflepuffs for larinzia.

RENT:

Not Enough, although I claim zoe_chan did the writing of this, she insisted I get credit for co-writing. Although mainly all I did was write Mark's dialogue.

He closed his eyes, steeling himself for her reaction to whatever it was he was going to say. “I think you should move out.”

Maureen waited for the “just kidding” or “NOT!” It didn’t come. She glared back at him. “Are you high?” she demanded irritably. “I thought it was just Roger we were watching out for. Don’t tell me you’ve taken up acid or something.”

Insomnia
Mark, Roger, gen. Immediately follows Not Enough. And in this case, zoe_chan wrote Roger's dialogue! :)

Resigning himself to the fact that sleep is a lost cause, Mark gets up and leaves his room. Maybe he'll make some tea. Of course, it's not that tea is going to do anything, but it's almost a programmed response. When in doubt, make tea. This would make more sense if he were British, but he's not; he's Mark. And for Mark, tea has always made things better.

Narnia:

Put Aside Childish Things
Susan and Peter, gen. Spoilers for The Last Battle, insofar as there can be spoilers for books written that long ago.

He said, “I think I understand. But Susan, what you’re doing hurts so much more than believing, even if we can’t go back.”

She sighed and said into his chest, “If you can’t go back, why not just let it go?”

Queen Lucy's Cordial
Written for narniaficathon, Peter and Lucy gen.

Peter was quiet for a long moment before saying, “It is your cordial, Lucy. But there has to be a time and place for you to use it. You can’t bring it on every campaign, to every battle. It’s too powerful.” He hesitated, then added, “Maybe it isn’t my place to tell you how you should use it.”

And, for yuletide:

Lives By Breaking
All four Pevensies, 1600 words, gen.

Peter comes to her and rests his hand on her shoulder. "This is our fairy tale, Susan. This is the happy ending."

She hopes he is wrong.

So, I seem to jump from one fandom to another, don't I? And for all my Founders talk, I've only got one finished and posted? This is wrong.

My favorites are definitely Believe and Lives by Breaking, because they were both challenging for me and I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Well. Back to Richard and Bruce.
