OMG was the weather beautiful. It can be like that any time it wants! I think that was the single best weather weekend in the six years I've been doing festivals. I don't really have as many stories from this weekend. I suppose that is a good thing. I met some more FoF people. FoF rocks my socks off. I am going to endeavor to help them even though I'm not a member. Let's see, I am the new patron of The Black Pearl jewelry shop--yay! I need to make up some sort of sign this week, although I'm still not sure what exactly it will look like. I love their pieces and I am the proud owner of a few of them now. Deb/Fionna was out this weekend and it was nice to see her. On Sunday she wore her Countess of Featherington dress and we stood next to one another and joked about people seeing double since our gowns are quite similar in color scheme. Hehe. We never pulled it on the Queen though, that would have been bad. I was naughty. I swore up and down that I wouldn't get a new Girl Glass, I didn't need a new Girl Glass and yet I walked in and this claret and rust colored goblet just seemed to jump up into my hand and I somehow ended up over at the desk with my bank card. Oh well, it gives me another option. Anj and Chris and Matthew were out and it was a blast to go out to dinner with them on Friday. I didn't get to see much of them on Saturday, but they seemed to have fun. If the cards fall the way I am hoping I want to get out to MNRF this year to see them and check things out. I actually really enjoyed one of Andy's masques during Late Glade. Although, it is pretty much for all the wrong reasons. He put on Perseus and Andromeda using some of the MoH's and Lord Talbot. My favorite part was "The dragon and the gorgon (played by two 11-year-old MoH's) fought to the death!" (MoH whispers in Sir John's ear). "Rather, your Majesty, the dragon and the gorgon did not fight to the death, instead they went and played dollies." I love having kids in the guild. They crack me up.
This weekend also showed me more of who my friends are. I am finding more and more people who I would gladly go to the line for because after a few conversations (and events) I know they would do the same for me. There are a few people on site that give me the creeps, but after a little chat I had yesterday I now know that there are a whole lot more people that I can turn to than I thought. I also know that if anyone laid a finger on me there are a couple of people who would have no problem stashing that person in the back forty. Not that anything would ever happen, but I find that thought strangely comforting. Yeah, there's a story there, but that is for another time.
I've discovered I've been sucked into St. George collective brain syndrome. Myself and six other guilde members in various pairings all showed up at the same movie theatre last night for the 7:15 showing of Harry Potter independently of each other. It was weird and cool all at the same time. I think it is safe to say that I've actually enjoyed these last two movies better than their respective books. *gasp* I know. The reason is that for the most part the movies cut most of the stuff I considered filler anyway.
Well, I'm off for a picnic along the river and to watch a water ski show. I'm sure the next time I'll write will be this time next week.
