/refuses to acknowledge licensing of the anime
Well, not really. But mnnngh. I'm torn between being happy that Kuroshitsuji is getting more popular, and being upset that Kuroshitsuji is getting more popular. It's the same sentiments I had when the manga got licensed-- it means new people will join the fandom, but because new people will join the fandom, it's more likely to turn out just like Naruto, or Bleach. The new word will be Kurotard, and I'm afraid that the new fans will be "omg SebaCiel~" (or what have you) in a way that will cause all Kuro fans to be generalized in one big lump (kind of like how Twilight did, actually). And then it might bring up the "you like shota, you are sick" discussion all over again and cause grief and strife to Kurofandom in general until it becomes as wanky as some other fandom (Kingdom Hearts comes to mind).
And from the RPer point of view, everything that the licensed manga and anime give out, that will be canon-- and I feel that it detracts from the original Kuroshitsuji.
I don't know, maybe I'm being paranoid and irrational. I'm sure a lot of other fandoms have seen something similar, it's just that I can be horribly pessimistic at times, and this is one of them xD; And of course people are free to interpret the fandom in whichever way they choose...but I'm just worried that new interpretations will devalue Kuroshitsuji.
Just please be kind to my fandom, Funimation! ;w;
