On Monday, April 21, 2008 at 7:53 pm after only 18 minutes of pushing, Ronald Howard Dykman was born weighing in at an astonishing 9lb 3oz (Jon Simpson remarked "You didn't have a kid, you had a bowling ball!") and measuring in at 19in.
As far as being induced went...
I wound up going into labor at 4am monday morning on my own... I had him at 7:53pm and only pushed for about 18 minutes (I asked them to check the readout because I had him so fast after I started pushing)
I did* have nubain at my request and that slowed me down and after a while I did get some pitocin but I barely needed any to get me progressing again... and by that point I was so exhausted I asked for an epidural because I couldn't process the contractions anymore... and when the doc came back a couple of hours later to see if I needed more pitocin, I was ready to push.
No C-section needed... and I think, all in all, I couldn't have dreamed of a better experience.
He was 9lbs 3oz (more than his estimate from the c-section) and 19 inches long, with big feet... he's already in 6 month old booties and socks. Newborn socks don't fit him at all.
