For a long time I was convinced I was born in the wrong time period. I felt I should've been in the 13-15th century of sorts. I always want to be a writer of historical fiction. So why can't I write a 3 page "creative essay" pretending to be a knight who heard St. Bernard preach at Vezelay and goes home to convince his wife why he should go on crusade?

Feeling a little overwhelmed with grad school; there's good reason why they say take three classes at a time. Plus, I went into mini-career crisis mode (still slightly there) thinking what's all this for? Do I really want to be a Medievalist and devote my life to the academy? I felt better and more confident in my choice to be a Medievalist after meeting with the Med-Ren faculty candidates. Both were awesome and great for motivating me.

Mom got a new job in South Carolina! It's about 6 hours from Louisville and 5 hours from Raleigh, NC (where my dad lives). Things are kind of crazy now. I've got to move everything I've ever owned and furniture I want to keep from Paducah to Louisville by the end of March; Mom wants the house empty when she sells it. Neal and Mai are staying behind to settle things in Paducah, pack, and wait for my mom to find a house in SC. I'm happy she got a job finally and in a place closer to Raleigh where she really wanted to be and where my dad lives. So when I go to visit her, I can also make the drive to visit my dad easy. Means, I'll be going home to see my family less often and not going to Paducah as much--which kind of makes me sad.

OhayhoCon was fun in someways, stressful in others, and a little bit disappointing for a first con. My Devout cosplay was awesome though--Dustin sewed the dress in two days and Simon's wife Aree made the sleeves and fixed the collar in a couple hours. I'll post pictures eventually, once I get batteries for the camera. I'm trying to think of ideas for a panel because my good ole academic self wants to run one. I'm thinking of talking about gender construction/bending in anime; the panel I went to on gender & sexism in anime only talked about women/men in terms of sex.

Been on a huge anime kick lately. Bought Ah! My Goddess season one at the con and ploughed through it in two nights. Then went through the first season of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles in three or four days. Taking it slow on season two of Tsubasa though--mainly because I'm so behind. ^^;;
