So officially have finished 9 books for the summer, reorganized my bookshelf and just bought three books today. I'm so bad about that; Half Price Books is a curse and a blessing.

Books Read:
-Tam Lin by Pamela Dean
-The Privilege of the Sword by Ellen Kushner
-Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult
-Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
-Masque of the Black Tulip by Lauren Willig
-Beka Cooper: Terrier by Tamora Pierce
-Ironside by Holly Black
-Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder
-Fire Study by Maria V. Snyder

I'm so happy I finally got to finish Ironside. I was continually thwarted in my quest to read this book. Holly Black did not let me down and offered a nice twist to the final battle. I am in love with Roiben--the faerie knight--and I wish I was Kaye (the protagonist who's also a pixie). She brought together the characters from Tithe and Valiant, which was great. I've heard she doesn't plan to write any more about Kaye and the world of Tithe. That makes me sad. I guess she wants to focus on the Spiderwick Chronicles, since she just published book 1 of the second series.

I got addicted the "Study" series by Maria V. Snyder. The story for the second and third books were really intriguing, but the main character Yelena drove me nuts. I hated her, and she remained static in the way that she kept flip flopping between going on her own and deciding she needed help; too angsty for her own good.

Working on my tenth book (so I'll be 1/5 finished with my challenge) which is The High King's Tomb by Kristen Britain. Her Green Rider series reminds me a lot of Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar, but there are distinct differences in the worlds and characters. I don't like Karrigan and the King being together. I personally think he and Captain Mapstone should be together and would make a better couple. Now Karrigan is going to be all angsty through at least half the book. I waited a long time for this third and last book in the series; I hope it's good.

I want to try out the Twilight series because it's so popular. I have a soft spot for teen angst + high school + vampires. I read pretty much all of L.J. Smith's Nightworld series in middle school/freshman year of high school. I haven't been able to bring myself to buy the book because I'm not sure if I'll like it or not. It's not at Half Price (so I can't buy it cheap) and I'm like the one millionth person in line with a library hold on the first book.

Been thinking on potential thesis topics. One that I really want to try and pursue is finding and exploring female anti-heroes. Anti-heroes don't equal villains; they are extensions of the hero--an unorthodox hero to put it simply.

Going to NC on Thursday. Gotta pack.

No Shoe Carnival for two weeks! However, one of the worst and yet greatest, most hilarious things I've ever heard a customer say. "Seven dollars! That's like a foster child, you just can't beat it!"

Dentist appointment and Doctor's appointment scheduled for the same day, practically back to back.

Saw Mamma Mia today with Dustin. Loved it! Dustin said he was reminded a lot of his grandmother and that he also wanted to wear a shiny disco outfit. I want to wear a shiny disco outfit and sing ABBA songs now too.
