Sooo... I am supposed to be at Warlord atm. But with the new herd, plus cattle on the way and the extreme stress of the new business contract, I drew the short straw and am at home.
Sigh.....
This weekend of too much quiet means housework, sewing, ranching, surviving the gale force winds and sudden storms we are having atm. My sis may drive down tomorrow to hang out with me, and maybe we will hit Silver City for some amusement, who knows.
I am missing Oregon. I am missing my SCA friends although it has only been a few weeks in seclusion, I get lonely. Claudia has asked me to do some regalia sewing, which sounds kinda fun and cool at the same time, so I have a new project to design for someone besides his nibs and me.
Tressa promises me pictures from Warlord. I would love to be there seeing everyone and doing all the cool stuff, then again, I am not missing the humidity, rain and chaos of Texas weather. I would have gone up North in Colorado for the event but with Duncan's new Boer herd, and the new cattle coming anytime, one of us had to be the responsible adult, and he has promised me a shopping and visiting trip to Texas to see the girls soon. I am posting that here so he can't forget ;)
School is finally out for Tressa. Her school production of "Cool Suit" where she had 2 big solos was adorable. Derrick has finished his first year of college and survived. I hate that he is so far away. He does have a really neat Lady tho, so I know he is ok.
My newest mundania project has been learning to can. I have done 6 quarts of red hot apples which are a candy apple with red hots thingie I saw in a cook book, and today I swear I cored and peeled 16 huge granny smith apples and got 2.5 quarts of cinnamon apple sauce. Somehow the yield there just doesn't seem fair...
The orchard all made it through winter, the vegetable garden is all planted, the Toggenburgs are now living in the dog kennel complete with darling green cottage quarters (they are so weird) the Oberhasli's are still in the barn annoying the horse, and the 12 Boer are in a new fenced pasture we finished hours before himself left for Texas.
Somehow he decided it would be fun to buy me baby turkies, and while they do sing until they are adults, it was not amusing when the 65 mph gusts flew their small aviary into the air from it's elevated stand the other night. The dogs all find hanging out with them amusing tho, so who am I to judge...
I find I rarely have time to sit down, I am always running to be somewhere or do something. I think I need to go hide in Albuqueque with my sister and have a taste of decadent civilization soon.
More later maybe, if I get a chance to sit again soon :)
