Walmart, Alone, Saturday Night.
Look, promises everywhere
Florescent bulbs and signs proclaiming
“new” and “cheap” and “just for you”
Just for you, you lonely sap you.
I nearly cried.
A man and a woman in a long coat
He said something about candy: if she wanted, she ought to get some.
She smiled and said “no.”
They were in love
I have no coat
No shelter
I will take the candy, I will take it all and
I will come up empty handed.
Water Unkind
Rain falls softly; I fall
Slowly
For once, I am
Am real; if you want me to be
Your words were honest
Cruelly so, this poison is a memory
My best, best memory
Pour my soul onto the pavement
That is how I feel
this is what I have so far. of roughly 200 poems, I have two that are worth looking at....
so, opinions?
I really want to be in the creative writing capstone and I have no idea how I'm going to come up with a portfolio. Anyway, help me. If these are going in, they have to be strong...
