Long time no update...
Eek!
It's been far too long since I visited LiveJournal. Methinks it's time for an update!
Quite a bit has happened. I've finally just completed The Big Wedding Project. Four satin-back-crepe bridesmaids dresses (two adults, two kiddies) one velvet bridal coat (with hood and train) stoles for the bridesmaids and a velvet ring cushion with pearl edging. It seemed to take forever, and it had it's fair share of hiccups (running out of satin so had to make the Matron of Honour's dress from the velvet - which turned out beautifully) but we managed to iron out any problems with relative ease. Pics will be posted as soon as the bride is back from honeymoon!
In other news, I have left my job at the sewing machine shop. It was a tough decision, but I'm finally going to go for it and devote more time to my own dressmaking business. I already have a client who wants a party dress for Christmas (her main inspiration is from a silver Julien Macdonald dress) and a lady who wants some sewing lessons next week (I'm also going to advertise myself as a sewing tutor as I loved teaching in the shop)
I'm also looking into getting a Studio to work from, I might go and have another look at it today... it's in a building that only rents out studios to people in the creative industries, so I'll be mingling with other arty types lol! Only problem is, it's quite a few miles away (the studio is in North Liverpool and I live in South) but there's nowhere similar in my neck of the woods... hmm, decisions, decisions...
