OK so I wasn't sure what to think about this episode going in, though I was totally looking forward to it. Jess & Daniel Palladino to me don't say YAY! But I loved this episode, LOVED!
The only negative thing about the entire episode was the teaser which was very randomly GG but also pointless and rather dumb. Everything else I adored.
I'm admittedly not the biggest L/L fan in the world, but I'm very tired of this storyline. Not April, her I like and I enjoyed Luke trying to bond with her, I enjoyed that in the last episode they were in together as well. But the not talking, which is so not them, and his shutting Lorelai out of knowing April, it's stupid. So Lorelai's passive/aggressive routine, which she & Rory seem to have down lately, was great. Her abusing the bag that Anna had given him, was very funny. The throwing the coffee on Mrs. Kim's wedding dress was also great and I think not just about Lane not liking it.
I also LOVED, it might have been my favorite part of the episode, Emily's scolding of Lorelai. I love Emily to begin with, but at times she's too much. This time she was spot on and said something Lorelai needed to hear, I hope she did. It was also nice to see the senior Gilmores outside of their house in Hartford, those are always fun scenes. Plus, Emily playing cards with the stand in April was adorable.
I loved all the Jess/Luke stuff. I think, but then I'm not a Literati fan, that Luke not Rory is the reason for his maturation. He's the one that never let him slip out of society, for lack of a better way of putting it. He kept going to find him after he left SH. And gave him the self help stuff and a lot of advice the last time Jess was really in SH for Liz & TJ's wedding. It seems he actually listened to Luke this time. It was nice seeing him meet April too.
Also, yes I LOVE & ADORE LOGAN!!! I loved him not just accepting how Rory's treating him. How he made her kiss him goodbye in the morning as he left. I'll not go on about how stupid it was to have Rory wearing stilettos to class, that's sooooo not college. And how as he left he let her have it. Yes he loves her, but he's not putting up with how she's treating him either. Which he's right, if she really had forgiven him she wouldn't be treating him like that. Of the 4 people in the 2 central romantic 'ships on the show right now he's acting the most mature.
I even liked the Rory/Jess stuff. Yeah she was trying to get back at Logan by going, but even though I wish she had stopped him before he kissed her, I'll take it making her realize she really does love Logan. Milo's hair though is FUGLY! Both his appearances this season his hair has been hideous.
Little things:
- Luke & Caesar, too funny
- As was Kirk trying to take over the diner.
- Taylor's outrage at Lorelai running down The Hollow, very amusing.
- Lorelai's running down of The Hollow was funny itself.
- Mrs. Kim & her dress. But then when isn't she fabulous?
- COLIN & FINN!!! Oh how I've missed those vapid little dilettantes! I might be the only one but I think they're hi-lar-i-ous!
