I am more than halfway through my pregnancy now, and I continue to be thrilled with the whole idea! The notion of a real baby entering my home, my family, my life is crystallizing in my consciousness. I am making lots of plans for my baby's arrival because it is actually going to happen. It's not just a dream of something far off in my future, as I felt is was during the first half of my journey. Now the baby makes himself known to me on a regualr basis with his wriggling and kicking at the walls of my uterus several times a day. Feeling his little moving body inside my own brings me to a new level of emotional connection with my baby. Life is good for me, am I happy to say.
Yesterday I made the 17 mile trek out to Babies R Us with tydeus so we could familiarize ourselves with all things baby. We made the accquaintance of many a crib and stroller. We looked at bath and hygeine items, breast milk pumps, baby monitors, safety gates, car seats, swings, and educational toys. We paced ourselves so as not to be overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the store. We relaxed by test driving the rocking chairs and gliders out on display. I think this excursion to Babies R Us has helped us prepare for daunting task of creating a gift registry and made us feel like we're a little more up to the task of caring for an infant.
